25.01.2022 Humans of Cheep Trill Now, more than ever, we need to connect as a community. Wed love to feature more Humans of Cheep Trill! Please submit a photo of yourself and answer some (not all - just pick one or two) of the following questions (via email [email protected]: - why did you join Cheep Trill... - what do you do for work, and why - tell us something interesting - explain a life experience - tell us about your children, fur babies or ancestors - how are you coping with whats going on in the world atm In the meantime, lets reflect on the amazing humans weve met so far... We heard about the birth of their children , how crazy it is teaching them/watching them grow, but mostly loving getting away from them for one night at choir rehearsals we heard of first kisses with Keith Urban , stone bench tops that you waited 4 months for & it didnt fit, great great grandfathers being Hermann Scherchen (a famous classical composer), purchases of homes (incl those from your ex-partner), fur baby adoptions (incl Yogi) , struggles through IVF, diagnoses of cancers and the road to recovery and moving forward with life We also heard about how people connect with music - writing their own lyrics/songs, being told they didnt open their mouth wide enough to be in a choir & proving them wrong, basses aspiring to be sops, experimenting with music, Cork Intl Choral experiences, appearing as a singer-guitarist in the national grand final of Australias New Faces , sung at their own wedding and in cupboards, even learning to play Euphonium. We learnt we have Trillers from various work backgrounds including florists, those in politics, branding and comms, teachers (and one that adds musical quotes to their lessons), musical & production stars, scientists, a host of citizenship ceremonies , early retirement to travel the world, even a roller derby champion. But what we loved hearing the most is your connection to music. Your connection to our choir. Music breaks down barriers. Like chicken soup for the soul. Makes us feel alive. Oh how much we love this

18.01.2022 Humans of Cheep Trill "At my last day of assessment in 2016 (Bachelor of Acting and Performance), I sung the song Eet by Regina Spektor - an insightful song into what depression feels like for her. It was hard, it was beautiful, I heard it, I felt it. I looked up into the crowd when I finished. Standing ovation. Teary eyes. I made my dad cry who never knew I could hold a note (he dropped his phone as I hit my first high note, due to his surprise). Upon exiting the theatre, ...my parents said You have no choice but to join that choir youve been obsessing over since Emma Dean announced on Facebook her intent to get a bunch of people together! As for the situation today - its something weve never really faced before so the fear of the unknown is quite unsettling. But Im coping by listening to my favourite upbeat music, speaking to my beautiful girlfriend Michelle, my family and friends, my doggy Taco (pictured), and by trying to find the good in the bad. For example, the amount of butterflies flying around is incredible. Its hard but a wise woman once told me: If we dont laugh, well cry. So lets find the good amidst the bad." - Jaspa Woolford-Clark #cheeptrill #cheeptrillchoir #choir #humansofcheeptrill #covid19 #coronavirus #brisbanechoir
18.01.2022 Humans of Cheep Trill "My name is Valerie Raisin, and I have three amazing children and eight beautiful grandchildren. I began working life as a primary school teacher, but after having my children, I began a school photography business which my son bought from me 12 years ago. I am now retired, and initially joined Cheep Trill when Emma first started it, because my daughter, Belinda, suggested doing a mother/daughter activity together. I jumped at the opportunity because it ...was a definite chance to see my very busy daughter once a week, and I had always wanted to sing with a group. And what a fun experience it is!" #humansofcheeptrill #cheeptrill #cheeptrillchoir #motherdaughtertime

06.01.2022 Dearest Trill Family, Many of you have been wondering if our rehearsals will continue due to concerns about COVID-19. After much consideration, Corinne, Tony and I have decided to continue rehearsals until the end of term. We believe this might offer a bit of ... light and joy during this difficult, unprecedented time. Of course, if you are unwell we encourage you to stay at home. It goes without saying that we also encourage you to wash your hands, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing, and avoid contact with anyone who has symptoms such as a fever, a cough, sore throat, fatigue, and shortness of breath. For those of you who feel more comfortable staying at home, that is absolutely fine. No pressure. We are beyond devastated that our World Science Festival show is cancelled, and know you all feel the same, but we will endeavour to make our rehearsals full of fun! In fact, I will be adding some more arrangements to the Dropbox today so we can get stuck into some new music for an exciting new challenge. We love you all and are thinking of each and every one of you. Emma (Mama Trill) x
