18.01.2022 CUA Spirit & Sportsmanship Award 2019 Winners - Carey Baptist College! We love to recognise and encourage cheer and dance programs that are living out the values that we strive to embody with CUA - Kindness, Inclusion, Excellence, Respect and Equality. We understand first hand the importance of being part of a safe and supportive cheerleading community and the role that plays in allowing young athletes to thrive in life. We received more than 300 nominations for this aw...ard and we were amazed to hear about the positive things happening out in the WA gyms! Carey Baptist College embraces every single one of our values - this starts at the top, with the head coach Amy Taylor and all assistant coaches setting a wonderful example to the athletes. Inclusion is the programs priority. There are no auditions or minimum skill standards to meet. Any athlete who has the enthusiasm, the commitment and the willingness to be taught, will find a place in a team. All members are welcomed and are made to feel valued, respected and welcomed; they are truly loved for who they are and for what they bring to their team. Carey Baptist have demonstrated kindness to the highest level in the way the team members relate to each other, the way they support one another, the way the older athletes and look out for the younger ones and for the way they are so respectful to their head coach and to the wider staff in general. This year, they have initiated handing out pegs with positive words of encouragement, as a way to say good luck to other clubs - a special idea they learnt about and adapted from one of the teams recent trip to the UK and Europe. With regard to excellence - this program uses encouragement and challenges to push their athletes to become their best self. They motivate and inspire by giving out awards for athletic achievement or leadership. The program coordinator was recently awarded Coach of the Year by the school, and several of the team were recognised with the schools top sports awards last month. 12.01.2022 Congratulation to the CUA Spirit & Sportsmanship winners for 2018 - Galaxy Elite Allstars This award is so important to us because we love the idea of being able to recognise and honour cheerleading clubs that are demonstrating the CUA values of Kindness, Inclusivity, Excellence, Respect and Equality. We put it out to the cheer and dance community over the past few weeks to nominate a club, and include an example of how this club has demonstrated one or more of these value...s. Hundreds of responses came in and we were amazed to hear about the positive things happening out in the WA gyms! Our winners, Galaxy Elite All Stars, are clearly shown to embody each of the CUA values, but most of all INCLUSIVITY. We heard about how new members are welcome to the family with open arms and hearts, with every athlete being valued and respected equally, no matter what skills they might have, what size they are or what their background might be. We heard some lovely stories about athletes who had struggled to felt accepted anywhere until they walked through the doors of this gym. Every parent and supporter is also included and encouraged to be proud and passionate members. The Galaxy athletes also show great enthusiasm and sportsmanship towards other clubs, and that was evident at Stars N Stripes. Weve specially chosen each person in our team because they are passionate, hardworking and represent CUA with pride and integrity! So much effort goes on behind the scenes to ensure the events run smoothly and efficiently, from those behind the curtain in warm-up, marshall, registration and merchandise to the heavy lifters in our setup and packdown crewto the production team in lighting, audio, photography and videography. to those up on the panel who are judging and scoring. You have each contributed enormously to CUA this year, and very importantly, youve made the weekends so much fun by keeping us smiling and laughing along the way! 05.01.2022 Thats a wrap on Worlds 2019 for CUA! We have had an amazing time in Orlando, Florida supporting the Aussie teams and catching up with great friends along the way! We are beyond proud and humbled to have been represented at this event for the first time with Worlds bids teams....its such an honour for us to provide this incredible and life-changing opportunity. Huge shout out to SM Argent (Open Pom), Peppermint Valkyrie (Open AG Hip hop) and Peppermint Renaissance (Open Ly...rical/Contemporary) for all your hard work, stamina commitment, talent and passion. You each truly earned your place on the world stage representing Australia and should all be so proud.
