VIC NEWS Victorian mum says medicinal cannabis changed her daughter’s life Three-year-old Elle used to spend hours every day enduring body convulsions and violent seizures, but now, with medicinal cannabis, she is seizure free and enjoying life again. Alex White, Sunday Herald Sun Subscriber only... | August 31, 2019 8:00pm Elizabeth Gatelein and her daughter, Ellenora, 3. Picture: Tony Gough Elizabeth Gatelein and her daughter, Ellenora, 3. Picture: Tony Gough At three months of age Elle stopped laughing. Instead she spent hours a day enduring body convulsions and violent seizures while her parents had to sit by unable to do anything to help. For almost two years mum Elisabeth Gatelien, 43, watched her little girl be put on a range of drugs but little changed and she continued to suffer through 20 fits per day lasting up to 10 minutes each. Doctors prescribed a cocktail of drugs for the little one, but these seemed to have little effect. After years with no change Ms Gatelien changed her daughter on to a high protein and fat diet, which has proven benefits for people with similar syndromes. FROM OUR PARTNERS Complete seasons of acclaimed comedy series available to stream On Demand. Get Foxtel In December, Elle was lucky enough to get on the Victorian Government’s trial of medicinal cannabis, and within months her seizures dropped to just three a day that last only 10 seconds each. I couldn’t be happier, Ms Gatelien said. She has started laughing again and I don’t have to panic anymore. Elizabeth Gatelein and her daughter, Ellenora,
