20.01.2022 I know times are changing right now - while we go through this period of uncertainty, all I can do and keep talking my talk with a eye for optimism on the future and an expectation for how it may play out once things settle again. The election will be over at 6pm this Saturday 28th March - here’s hoping we get the good governance we need for the region to get all our communities through and out the other side and hit the ground running for rebuild - space n sunshine, we’ve got it - when people get to move around again, trust it will be domestic travelling. Observe all directions for managing our health situation xx

20.01.2022 Friends of the Quarry Gardens understand the overwhelming greatness the site offers. Spectacular views top off the plan to develop first-class gardens on the escarpment beautifying the surrounds of the torn but humbling rock faces. We need to get this going - its agonising how everything seems to take so long. We are the Garden City and developing green tourism seems obvious - businesses are trying out there but need leadership vision from Council. And the Quarry Gardens woul...d be volunteers' bliss - there are so many people into gardening who want to be connected with their community. The Stop Closure of Toowoomba Community Nursery petition is still up on change.org and is heading towards 1500. I advocate for smart projects for our people and business opportunity in the Garden City region and the Quarry Gardens suits. Our whole escarpment could be a wonderful parklands - currently it's an undervalued natural resource and it should be championed for community. See more

20.01.2022 Here’s a photo of the ECQ site - yikes am currently top of the 1percenters - you’ll get the idea of who’s in or check out the site for vote count - this table is the count at 42%: https://prodresults.elections.qld.gov.au/lga20//councillor

19.01.2022 PHOTO ALBUM! It’s been a huge couple of months after nominating for Councillor for the Toowoomba Region. I’m pretty hopeless at selfies and worse at posting them - so here’s a place I’ll lump the best of the unpublished moments. Again thanks for your support people. I’m stoked I’ve run and seen the process and fully enjoyed it too. I might’ve been disappointed in myself if I’d not and I’m happy that people might now consider some of the ideas I’ve discussed in my campaign. Good luck to all the candidates - well done for your efforts and decision to run... it’s always interesting to see how an election pans out given the money thrown at it and especially now the current health crisis has brought many changes - we'll find out soon xx

19.01.2022 Petrol bowsers! So take care while cheap petrol abounds (Apparently 99c yesterday at Drayton ). No stockpiling please ok.

18.01.2022 CANDIDATE FOR TOOWOOMBA REGIONAL COUNCIL 2020: Chelle McIntyre Lucky Number 7 on the ballot - make your vote count. Chelle McIntyre sees great potential in balancing progress with action for sustainability. Great Grandfather Joseph Sharp McIntyre, was Mayor and Alderman through the late 1800's and early regional development. Artist, horticulturist and musician, she sees a phoenix opportunity following extreme weather of drought, summer fires and flood, offering achievable i...deas for sustainability and wealth creation across the region. She proposes the Wagners Supercars Wellcamp entertainment site be developed to additionally attract and accommodate large Festival events to counter the loss of EasterFest and tap into rising Queensland tourism. Given its western location and anticipated attendance rates, the benefits could extend significantly into the outer regions. With recent closing of the Australian border for six months, it is the time to focus on domestic tourism and co-ordinate our Region to attract market share given the new airport and close proximity to Brisbane. She believes the formation of a Community and Arts Office within the Council could provide help support and guidance to parent the many projects and small businesses working hard to develop their lots. It would also provide a central location for improved communication and action for the under-represented outer Toowoomba regions. A strong Cultural Program would offer longer-term planning, jobs and opportunities through diversifying for tourism demand. World-class cultural experiences could include the Quarry Gardens, Indigenous Culture, Agri and Eco tourism, multi-use Escarpment with koalas and Public Art and Gallery vibrancy. Effective public transport ties this together and would reduce city car issues. She advocates for research into adopting local Industrial Hemp production. COUNCIL ELECTIONS ARE ON SATURDAY 28th MARCH

18.01.2022 I'm sharing this again in case you missed it since it was way down in my news feed - we could get Tourism up and running in a big way if we appreciate the value it could bring to our region - arts, culture, green spaces and the building of infrastructure like the Wellcamp racetrack would fully put us on the must-do map and bring visitors year round. We have the new airport, we are so close to Brisbane and we want passenger rail - we've got to attract and I have the achievable ideas - creativity abounds here and I believe we need that tourist dollar to survive. I'm your advocate for this.

18.01.2022 The vote count creeps along but the places remain the same. In the meantime here's a good COVID-19 graphic - hope you are well x

17.01.2022 Here’s some info about phone voting if you still haven’t hit the poll booths phone vote has got to be the better option here. Keep safe folks and think of others during this time xx

17.01.2022 Here’s the Council as voted - Rebecca Vonhoff last on the alphabetical, first past the post - big finish for a newcomer, well done. Thankyou again folks, candidates and election engagers, it was grand. xx

16.01.2022 Ipswich Raceway is losing traction.. There are a lot of car people here and we need a piece of good infrastructure. The plans are already done for the Wellcamp Supercars site.

15.01.2022 Shout out to Peta Byrne who jumped on early after my nomination announcement. She did 12 years teaching in the Arts Dept at TAFE, I did four of those with her as the best teacher I’ve had - I’ve applied many things I learned from her to my campaign. Such an awesome, smart and practical course, VisArts at TAFE here has been cut, defunded and it was a sad loss to our community bc it inspired and drove a great many to bigger things! Art n Politics huh? But here’s something else - not only was she the The Play Dough Lady but did you know she also started The Unconsumers! I was an early subscriber to the group which now boasts almost 6000 members. Cheers mate and to the future..

15.01.2022 Here’s an update ECQ shows 56% counted

09.01.2022 Sign this petition for passenger rail - of course it would be great for the Toowoomba tourism economy. I’ve caught a lot of trains travelling and throughout my childhood in Brisbane and I’ve also done the trip to Cairns and Sydney - it’s such a great way to travel.

06.01.2022 I’ve been getting a post together about the Arts Council Toowoomba Inc. and they’ve just done so much! This amazing group produced the fabulous Avant Garden public art event for Carnival of Flowers as a creative response to drought exhibiting 2007 - 2009. SO much personal volunteered time gets put into getting these projects happening and we say ‘hey thanks for that - will you do it again? And again? We like what it brings.’ I believe we should give greater support to the Art...s avoiding volunteer burnout and really own Arts Culture as a region vision - and now especially we really need to plan for economic recovery once our borders reopen - at this point we could lose the Carnival of Flowers or suffer a scaled down version - can we afford that? We need to bring visitors in and grand cultural experiences invite them - it is essential for our business and worker community. http://www.actmba.com//avant-ga/avant-garden-project-2007/ See more

05.01.2022 It's after six, the polls are closed and now for the counting - I liked this version for the expressive dance :) and thanks again for the ride

05.01.2022 FYI Check this out - seems the Entertainment Centre near the Wellcamp Airport is now back on the Wagners' agenda... "THE family behind some of Queensland's most successful major projects says it could have work started in just months on a $100 million entertainment centre creating hundreds of jobs. Wagner Corporation chairman John Wagner said they are in talks with the State Government about an entertainment centre for Toowoomba, the city from which the family grew their gra...ndfather's stonemasonry business into a major infrastructure contractor, airport builder and international operator. The Wagners built Toowoomba's Wellcamp Airport, the first privately-built airport in generations, created a massive cement and concrete business as well as a port facility handling live export cattle and grain on the Brisbane River. Mr Wagner said the entertainment centre adjacent to the airport was the sort of project governments needed to back to get the economy going to help ease the massive post-COVID-19 economic pain. Mr Wagner said the State Government - both the politicians and the bureaucrats - had been working hard to cut red tape and get the economy moving but all levels needed to be flexible and find projects to create jobs. He said the entertainment centre work could start in four months with a Government green light. "We are working with the state to build a big entertainment complex and centre of excellence in Toowoomba," Mr Wagner said. "That's one example of how they could actually get things to move quickly. "We really need them to look outside the square at funding models to make it happen. "It'll be a $100 million-plus spend. "We could have construction of it up and running in four or five months. "Those are the sort of projects the state need to look at." Mr Wagner said Queensland needed to work hard to get its tourism sector going again, and the jobs it provided, as well as looking to major future projects, like the southeast fast rail that could connect the Gold and Sunshine coasts with Brisbane and Toowoomba as part of an Olympics bid. "That's a massive project and it will take years to plan it and it won't happen until the 2032 Olympics is confirmed. "That's an excellent project and it will really open up the southeast corner." He said more immediate projects were needed. "The State Government are out looking for projects they can get underway," Mr Wagner said. "While there isn't a formal road map, there is certainly a view they want things to happen and to happen quickly." Originally published as The $100m project to kickstart QLD's economy" See more

03.01.2022 say if anyone has seen any signs i've missed, please message and I'll pick them up asap. Thank you - still waiting on the ECQ with only 6% of total vote count revealed at this time of posting but expect this figure to change today. https://prodresults.elections.qld.gov.au/lga20//councillor

01.01.2022 Musicians and artists over Michael BouwMan’s way I’m sure be feeling the pain. Best bunker down n create for some future. Things about to get tougher - PM announced all clubs n pubs be closed tomorrow expected I guess - leaving schools open is topical - there’s always Skype gigs to be considered or video conferencing. Ben Tupas has offered a great tv idea to replace classroom. We are going to have to look for alternatives to how we manage our business. As a candidate, I’m the Arts person to keep it relevant - our arts people are workers too.
