16.01.2022 False results from IgG testing is a huge problem is Australia, too. I often see clients panicked by a long list of food allergies/intolerances handed to them by an alternative heath practitioner or even a Groupon voucher in some cases. The fact of the matter is that these tests do not provide the information they promise. They are not proven diagnostic tools and are known to show reactions where there are none. If you are concerned about food allergies or intolerance I'm more than happy to talk to you about your options regarding proven diagnostic tests and elimination diet options. Don't waste your money on IgG testing!

16.01.2022 Did you know - nutrition requirements change dramatically for women around menopause. This means that your usual dietary habits may need to change in order to support optimal health and wellbeing as you age. If you are a woman in your 40s or 50s, consider a diet check up with Lyndal to learn more about how your nutritional needs change around menopause.

15.01.2022 Is keeping your gut bugs happy the secret to good health??

15.01.2022 There are now hundreds of supplements lining pharmacy shelves, but the question is, do they really do anything? Or is it all just clever marketing? Watch this great video by 'The Checkout' that explores the regulation (or lack there of) of complementary medicines in Australia :D

14.01.2022 Hello! You may have noticed a few changes on this page recently so I thought I would introduce myself and give you an update. As the page suggests, I'm Ebony, I've taken over Lyndal's position at LifeStrong as the resident dietitian while she's off pursuing other opportunities. Before throwing myself into the wonderful world of nutrition and dietetics I studied at the William Angliss Institute and gained certification as a chef with a specialisation in pastry! I am extremel...y passionate about cooking food, sharing food, and talking about food, and love nothing more than sharing that passion with you! Coming from a Mediterranean background I deeply feel the concept of showing love through food. I am a strong believer that having healthy social and emotional relationships with food is just as important as the foods you consume. I will always endeavour to work with you to understand your needs and abilities in relation to what you can manage and what you want to achieve, striking a balance to support you in the best way possible. My main areas of interest are gastrointestinal problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food chemical intolerance, reflux, and any kind of chronic bowel dysfunction; body image and weight concern, loss of appetite, dysregulation of hunger and fullness cues; vegan and vegetarian nutrition; improving cooking skills; and management of chronic conditions including, but not limited to diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and maintaining a healthy diet through mental illness or chronic pain. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or to introduce yourself. I'd love to hear from you.

08.01.2022 Dietitians never stop learning. One of my main areas of interest since graduating has been Irritable Bowel Syndrome and yesterday I finally smashed an exam in recognition of the hours and hours of training I've put into IBS and the Low FODMAP Diet. FODMAPs are carbohydrates that causes unpleasant responses like gas, bloating, diarrhoea, and constipation in people with IBS. The Low FODMAP diet is a highly researched evidenced-based dietary protocol that systematically elimina...tes then reintroduces each carbohydrate group to find individual levels of tolerance leading to a balance of symptom management with libralised diet. If you or your doctor suspect your have IBS and you're ready to try dietary strategies to manage it, come and see me! I will make sure the process is as seamless as possible and you're well supported.

08.01.2022 I understand these are some scary times and we need to be cautious. While LifeStrong has put in place measures to improve sanitation and are planning on staying open for as long as possible, I also want to remind you that we offer telehealth services. If you are staying inside and have a phone/laptop this could be a great option for you. Last week the Australian government announced expansions to the medicare program which allows GPs and Psychologists to re...bate telehealth services for at-risk individuals, unfortunately they did not listen to advocacy from allied health and have not included Dietitians in their plan which means medicare rebates will not be available for telehealth services. Private health insurers vary on whether or not they will rebate online services, I'd advise you to get in contact with your insurer personally. If you currently have a face-to-face appointment with me that you'd prefer to change to telehealth please get in contact with the clinic and this can be arranged. I'm here for all your intuitive eating, vegan nutrition (including pregnancy and infant nutrition), vitamin/mineral, IBS and chronic health condition needs. #lowfodmap #lowfodmapvegan #dietitian #dietadvice #telehealth #ebnutrition #veganpregnancy #vegankids #covid #coronavirus #selfisolation #vegan #nutrition #ibsvegan #irritablebowelsyndrome #veganspoonies #plantbasednutrition #intuitiveeating #whatveganseat #veganbabies #anemia #irondeficiency #veganfoodshare #veganchildren #selfcare #malnutrition #vegandietitian #fodmap #ibs #melbournedietitian See more

05.01.2022 Throughout your life have you found yourself going on diets time and time again, coming off them and regaining the weight you lost? You're not alone! in 2013 The National Health and Medical Research Council released a document that said they had A level evidence that regardless of the degree of initial weight loss, most weight is regained within a 2-year period and by 5 years the majority of people are at their pre-intervention body weight. This cycle of losing and gaining w...eight can lead to feelings of frustrating and desperation and cause you to try even more restrictive ways of eating which could be damaging to your health by failing to provide essential nutrients. Intuitive Eating is about re-connecting with yourself, banishing food rules, and discovering a pleasurable, nourishing, and joyous relationship with food. If you need more reason to consider Intuitive Eating, Research has shown a wide range of benefits including improvements in self esteem, depression, cholesterol, blood sugars, and blood pressure, as well as reductions in disordered eating patterns. If you'd like to find out more about this way of eating book a consult today!

01.01.2022 People with Food Chemical Intolerance are often (mis)diagnosed with IBS and a whole host of other conditions such as headache or migraine, hives, frequent flus, hayfever, and even fibromyalgia. If you find yourself often suffering from these signs or symptoms (with or without gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea and other gastrointestinal problems) then book a consult to talk about the Food Chemical Elimination Diet. https://www.facebook.com//a.20128779656/2203207029929353/
