20.01.2022 Fevers in children Fevers happen when your body temperature rises above normal, usually in response to an infection in the body. When the temperature reads above 38C on a thermometer, it is considered a ‘fever’. Placing the thermometer under the arm pit is the most reliable way of taking a baby’s temperature. Children over six months of age can also have their temperature measured using a thermometer in the ear. Signs and symptoms of fevers in children include, being i...rritable and unwell, hot to touch, more sleepy than usual, vomiting, refusing food and fluids and shivering. There are several things you can do to make you child more comfortable at home: Give frequent small drinks it is important to stay hydrated Administer paracetamol and/or ibuprofen as per the dosage instructions Wipe the child’s forehead with a sponge or face washer in slightly warm water. Cool baths or showers are not recommended The seriousness of a fever depends on the age and health of the child who is sick. If a baby under 3 months has a fever, they must seek medical attention immediately, even if they have no other symptoms. Some children can have seizure as a result of a high fever. These are known as febrile seizures, although common, they require an urgent visit to the nearest emergency department immediately. If you are concerned about your child’s fever and would like to speak to one our friendly GPs book in today. 02.01.2022 I suspect it is hard to love a health care worker. We get up early, we come home late or may have night shifts and are too tired to cook. We miss weekend events, holidays, birthdays. We dont get too excited over a minor cough or cold, we have seen far worse. We dont always want to talk when we come home, we have talked all day. We dont always want to move when we come home, we have moved all day. It may seem that we have left all of our caring, our heart, and our love at w...ork, and have come home to you empty, we probably have. I guess it is hard to love a health care worker, but know this: we still need your love. We need your understanding. We need to know that you get it". We need to be the one taken care of every once in a while. We need someone else to take charge of the details because constantly doing everything ourselves is exhausting. Sometimes we need our feet rubbed. We need a shoulder to cry on when we cant even tell you why were grieving. We need you to do the hardest work you may ever take on, which is...to love a health care worker. I would like to thank those of you out there who love them and let us do this work, this calling, this life: care work Shout out here if you are a health care worker or love a health care worker! #chelseaheightsmc #COVID19 #frontline #chmc #weareopen #chelseaheightsmedicalcentre #wearamask #staysafestayhome

01.01.2022 A simple blood test could save your life Prostate cancer is estimated to be the most common cancer affecting Australian men, with 1 in 6 diagnosed before the age of 85.
