24.01.2022 The children in the Toddler room created a beautiful mural on the window facing Bay Rd in the outside yard today to create awareness for mental health on R U Ok Day. Using bright yellow paint, the children discussed and painted things that make them feel happy such as smiley faces, a sun, stars, food and their friends and family. In these uncertain times, we are so happy to be able to provide a constant supportive and positive connection to the community in the childrens lives. Keep a look out as you drive past the service for the beautiful reminder that it is okay to not be okay, and that we are always here for you. We are all in this together.

24.01.2022 Families - Please be reminded that to enter our service, you must be wearing a mask. Please keep our children, families, educators and community safe.

21.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 27 May to 3 June - is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

19.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educators Day!!! Today is the day that Australia recognises the amazing work you all do in supporting the children and families who access early education. Enjoy your celebrations with your team and please know that we think you are all amazing! You are the face of Story House and reason why our families come to each of our services. Have an amazing day!!

18.01.2022 We are so excited to share that over the past month in the Toddler room, the children have been learning about their emotions and facial expressions in supporting building respectful and reciprocal relationships with one another and finding their voice through self-identity understanding. Using emotion eggs as physical learning technologies, the children have been enjoying listening to a story each day which identifies the emotions of happy, sad, angry, shy, scared and excite...d. Extending this learning, the children have shown excitement in wanting to explore their feelings by looking at themselves in a mirror and drawing their personal representation of themselves. This allows the children to demonstrate their sense of Becoming within themselves and their identities, and creates the opportunity for the children to self-regulate when feeling a particular way, as they are able to identify the emotion they are feeling and seek avenues for comfort, support or to share success, both in groups and times of solitude. Through these intentional and spontaneous experiences, the children are beginning to link the feelings to situations in their lives, such as feeling scared to jump into the ball pit without holding an educators hand, or feeling angry when someone takes their toy, as well as demonstrating the ability to acknowledge how certain things and actions have the potential to make them feel and recognise the expressions behind the feelings. This ongoing learning supports their emerging social skills in being able to identify how their actions are affecting their peers and vice versa, and that makes us feel happy! See more

17.01.2022 This week the children of a Kids House Early Learning Cheltenham have been very excited to engage in Science Week! Engaging use of dispositions for learning such as curiosity and confidence, the children used their senses and reflective ideas to explore colours, measuring and mixing substances, explosions, edible sand, creating slime, speed and velocity, sound, and visibility. All of these experiences required the children to contribute with use of their emerging skills such ...as problem solving, investigation, hypothesising and inquiry, which challenged their thinking and supported their ongoing reflections of learning. Being in such uncertain times at the moment, we are really happy to be able to continue to provide an environment where your children feel safe, supported and excited to learn, especially with such bright, interesting and hands on learning during Science Week.

17.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the wonderful fathers in our communities. You are appreciated and loved more than you know. We hope you all have a great day.

17.01.2022 Water play releases energy, it can be both invigorating or relaxing and calming for young children. It increases their ability to concentrate on one activity when presented as a tranquil and repetitive activity (scooping, pouring and running their hands through the water). Gentle water play allows them to unwind, order their thoughts and relax. It also encourages role play and crucial social skills like cooperation and sharing. They learn to work with one or several children, play collaboratively and share the space and accessories with their friends. Children found different resources in their outdoor space to extend on their play. We are hoping for more of these sunny days.

16.01.2022 All the way up on the third level children have the luxury of being surrounded by the views of Cheltenham and Bayside. Children drew inspiration from the things we could see. Some of the children drew buildings, trees, cars and people, while others did abstract art or simply drew out of their imagination. As the children engaged in this experience, they connected with the world around them and learnt to express their observation and ideas through visual arts.

16.01.2022 Find a friendship like this, one that will make you laugh even in the toughest of times. Here at Kids House Cheltenham we are so lucky to be surrounded by our friends and family and connect with each when we need to. We are here to offer support to those who may be feeling the stress more than ever. We hope everyone in Melbourne is staying safe.

16.01.2022 Parent engagement in education is about parents and Educators, schools and communities working together to ensure that every parent can play a positive role in their childs learning, school community, sport, and social life. Parents and families play an important role in supporting their childs education. Parent engagement also results in longer term economic, social and emotional benefits. Kids House Cheltenham are here to help and with communication to support our familie...s who we arent able to see at the moment to ensure children are still supported and involved in our curriculum. Hamish and Estelle look like they are not missing out whilst being at home as they have kept busy with lots of cooking activities with their own little cafe and Science projects just in time for Science week. Keep sharing all your home learning projects with us and use the Home Learning Programs sent out on Story Park for more assistance and ideas. See more

14.01.2022 KIDS HOUSE CHELTENHAM TURNS ONE! On the 24th of June 2019 Kids House opened its doors to the community. From there families slowly visited as the neighbourhood discovered where we were located. It didnt take long before we were opening more of our beautiful rooms up and welcomed more families into the centre. We have spent the last couple of weeks looking back on photos and beautiful memories the we have made in the last 12 months. Working alongside such dedicated Educator...s and seeing their passion for the children is an honour and having this celebration for the children, families and Educators was perfect way to thank our devoted community. We all dressed up for the occasion and started the morning off with cooking classes with the children, in preparation for afternoon tea together. It was an afternoon full of surprises as we set up the yard with a dance party, jumping castle that was kindly donated and our Educator Caroline prepared cool shaped balloons at the childrens request. After lots of food was consumed it was time to bounce and dance away. We look forward to the next 12 months with you all. See more

09.01.2022 This week we look to place the spotlight on National Child Protection Week, with the theme. "Putting children first". NAPCAN - Play Your Part invite all Australians to look at how they can prioritise children in their lives and communities and to engage in National Child Protection Week as individuals, and as part of families, organisations, communities and society. Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare. #childrights #childprotection

04.01.2022 In July we got ready to farewell Julianna, our Educational Leader and Nursery Lead Educator at Cheltenham Kids House Early Learning to begin her journey into Motherhood. The Kids House Cheltenham team had a baby shower for her and surprised Julianna with lots of pink gifts. Julianna is originally from America so with no family here we felt it was so important to let her know she was apart of our family here. We set up little games for Educators to participate in and had a re...ally lovely afternoon. We are so happy to announce Julianna and Jack have welcomed their little baby girl. Elsie came into the world on 16/08/2020 without a fuss weighing 2.9kg. The team here at Cheltenham are in absolute awe of her already and we hope she knows how much her Aunties love her already. Julianna is doing really well as is Elsie. It might be some time before we get to meet her but we have lots of photos to keep us gushing. See more
