12.01.2022 Meet Julia Gouot, PhD student in grape and wine chemistry. Julia worked on a range of projects since arriving at the National Wine and Grape Industry Centre at Charles Sturt in 2015. She is currently looking at the impact of heat waves on red grape and wine flavonoid composition.

11.01.2022 Did we congratulate our two Analytical Chemistry students on being awarded the Rowe Scientific Chemistry Scholarship?! Yes? Let's do it again

08.01.2022 "It’s hard to be back studying again, at times it's a struggle (especially when I had the kids home during COVID) - But this is for me, and it makes me feel lik...e me again." Marjanna Duggan is a single mum with a love of science that she wants to share with everyone. Currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Science, Marjanna is planning on progressing to a Masters of Teaching, and taking the magic of science to the classroom. "I currently work as a lab assistant at the Wagga Wagga Christian College, last year I set up a science day for kinder to year 4s - I loved how mesmerised the kids were! And I want to keep that excitement for science alive for kids throughout their schooling life." Marjanna's commitment to her studies and her scientific ability has not gone unnoticed, as she was recently awarded a ROWE Scientific Chemistry Scholarship valued at $5,000. "The scholarship is a great help for me. I will be able to book my kids into care during school holidays so I can do my studies. And some of it I will save up for when I am doing my work experience, to help me pay the bills and take some time off from work." We are so lucky you came backpacking to Australia from The Netherlands 15 years ago Marjanna, your love of science will be a precious gift for future school children. Congratulations on everything you have achieved Charles Sturt Agriculture and Wine Science See more

06.01.2022 Welcome to our new students - we wish you all the best with your studies!

06.01.2022 The world has embraced Zoom, and so has the Chemistry team! For work but also for lunchtime quiz! Hope you're all well and managing the new normal. Stay safe!

05.01.2022 We are slowly getting back to (the new) normal at Charles Sturt University! How exciting to be able to go back to the lab and do your research

03.01.2022 Congratulations to our Analytical Chemistry students on being awarded the Rowe Scientific Chemistry Scholarship!

03.01.2022 Charles Sturt's Chemistry Discipline and the Eastern Riverina Science Teachers Association hosted the HSC Chemistry Days last week for the 22nd consecutive year! Over 250 students and science teachers, from up to 350 km away, came to the Wagga campus and National Life Sciences Hub to complete hands-on activities, such as dry-ice rainbow which allows discussing ocean acidification, or the elephant's toothpaste which delves into reaction speed and catalysts. Over the years, about 5,000 students have taken part to the program and we hope it will keep running for many more years! .

01.01.2022 We almost forgot the big news! Our new Head of School is a chemist, and one we know fairly well. Congratulations to A/Prof Paul Prenzler on his new role

01.01.2022 The chemistry of hand sanitisers - cannot be more topical...

01.01.2022 Congratulations to Julia Gouot who just submitted her PhD on the effect of high temperature on Shiraz grape tannins. What an achievement, especially under the current circumstances! Julia returned to France a few months ago to start her next adventure while finishing her thesis... Although she could no longer spend her Friday afternoons in her supervisor's office, she still kept in touch skyping late at night during weekends! Now, it feels like we have nothing to do, although that's obviously not true... From all of the Chemistry team, well done Julia! We are all very proud of you
