25.01.2022 Treatment at home minimises the risk of being exposed to COVID-19 in the hospital. This will change not only the way, but where patients are treated in the future. #covid19 #chemoathome

25.01.2022 Giving kindness. Is there anything better Thank you so much to Soul Gestures, Roc Candy, Innaloo Florist, Connolly and Associates and Total Tint Solutions for making this possible for our beautiful patients. Also a special thank you to our very thoughtful nurse, Jane who helped organise the gifts. https://www.facebook.com/198087696875068/posts/3538291332854671/

25.01.2022 Covid-19 definitely made people more aware how safe it is to have treatment at home. The benefits are numerous including the rarely talked about financial benefits for the patient and their family (less travel costs, less parking costs, reduced day care costs for those with children, minimising loss of patient and carer income). Covid-19 has also made it more difficult for patients to feel supported in the hospital as they can no longer have a carer attend hospital appointmen...ts with them. This leaves them feeling alone or overwhelmed by the information given to them. At home, however, they are able to spend one on one quality time with a nurse who educates and supports them and their family in a place they feel safe and comfortable. https://thenewdaily.com.au//coronavirus-cancer-chemo-home/

24.01.2022 We totally understand why the border closures have been needed. Now, we like many other businesses, need a little more clarity to help us plan for the future. Getting our team to where their skills and experience are needed most helps us to provide care at home to patients with cancer and chronic illnesses. Care at home, when its needed.... #chemoathome #Cancer #COVID19 #coronavirus #BorderClosure #homenursing #chronicillness https://www.abc.net.au//wa-cautious-about-reopeni/12812844

24.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM Cathy - Administration Liaison When you call the View Health - chemo@home office, you may be lucky enough to speak with Cathy, who has been a member of the team for over 5 years.... "I have been friends with Lorna Cook (one of our co-founding partners) for 28 years; and when View Health - chemo@home was relatively new, I said I would volunteer for a few hours per week, because I thought it was such a fantastic concept." Cathy said. Cathy had previously worked as a hairdresser; and her manner and compassion when speaking with patients impressed the company owners so much, they offered her a job. Answering the phone is just a small part of what Cathy manages every day. She handles admissions, orders treatment charts, liaises with doctors and medical staff; she is a link between all stakeholders. "I love my job - it is really interesting and I learn something new every day." Cathy said.

20.01.2022 YOUR SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY We understand that during the most recent outbreaks of COVID-19 in South Australia, that patients and their families may have some concerns about the safety of receiving treatments at home. We want to reassure everyone that the safety of our patients and our team is the number one priority at View Health - chemo@home.... Oncology Nurse Fiona Arthur said that, in her opinion, choosing to receive treatments at home is one of the safest options available. "Our very experienced nurses are armed with full Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), ensuring complete safety for the patients and ourselves." Fiona said. "We can look a bit daunting with our gowns and masks, but our patients and their families can feel confident that their health and safety is our number one priority." If you have any concerns, please send us a message.

19.01.2022 MELANOMA IN THE AUSTRALIAN SUMMER SPOTLIGHT Even though Australians are becoming more and more aware of the risks of exposure to harmful UV rays, we are still in the lead when it comes to melanoma diagnosis rates across the world. We encourage everyone to become familiar with their skin, including skin not normally exposed to the sun, and consult a doctor if they notice any change in shape, colour or size of a mole or lesion, or the development of something new. Early detec...tion offers the best chance of successfully treating melanoma. The good news is that the treatment of melanoma has changed so much over the last ten years, and there are many more therapies available. Whilst the best treament is prevention, when treatment is required, View Health - chemo@home can administer the new immunotherapy infusions for melanoma, in the comfort of your own home.

12.01.2022 Sadly the first report of an Australian dying from Covid 19 (coronovirus) has ocurred at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in WA. Data from the the US highlights that the fatality rate from Covid 19 in people with other illnesses or compromised immune systems (such as those having chemo and immuno therapies) is about 15%, compared to 2% with the general population. It is already well documented that patients treated with cancer therapies at home (compared to hospital) have a low...er rate of infection as they are less likely to be exposed to other contagious illnesses. It would therefore seem prudent for any patient having treatment with chemo and immuno therapy to consider all reasonable ways to limit their risk of exposure by minimising the time they spend in hospitals, day units, clinics or gp surgeries. There are two practical ways to do this, without compromising care: 1. Have health professionals visit the home (e.g. View health - chemo@home, home doctor, home nursing) to administer treatment; and 2. Make use of technology (e.g. telehealth, FaceTime, whatsapp) for consults. Learn more about what treatments can be given at home at www.chemoathome.com.au. #coronovirus #covid19 #chemoathome

12.01.2022 Raising awareness of colitis is so important. Did you know many of the newer, very effective medications (known as immunotherapies) treat the disease by reducing the bodies immune reaction in the bowel. These medications are often given by infusions into the blood system. View Health can do these infusions at home, allowing people to get on with life.

12.01.2022 IN AN EMERGENCY OUR TEAM ARE A WELL OILED MACHINE We are often asked "How do the nurses manage if there is an emergency in the home?" Our nurses work largely autonomously and independently in our patients' home. BUT, we have fantastic emergency processes, fabulous support networks and well established communication channels. Our team proved how well they work together in an emergency last week when a young man crashed his car into parked cars in front of our head office. T...he nursing team, who were prepping to go on the road, sprang into action and responded like a well oiled machine whilst awaiting emergency services. This is who we are, this is what a strong culture looks like, this is what sets us apart. Well done team #chemoathome. We couldn't be more proud of you all.

12.01.2022 Great advice about preventing the spread of coronavirus. This is particularly important for people with weakend immune systems, like those with cancer and those receiving immunotherapy from chronic illnesses.

11.01.2022 ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE We often find it hard, especially during a time of illness or crisis, to appreciate the good things in our lives. It is so much easier to focus on what is going wrong, than to notice what is going right. The bad things always seem much larger and demand our attention. We get caught up in the routine and stress of everyday life, even though we have the best intentions. Studies have shown that happiness and health go hand-in-hand. Finding the silver lining... in difficult situations and being optimistic isn't foolish; it is planning for a healthy life. There are little things you can do to lift your mood, like: - cuddling a family member or pet; - going for a walk; - smile - it is hard to feel down when you are smiling! - be kind to others; - pump up the music and dance; and -surround yourself with positive people. Practice gratitude in your everyday life - it just may help get you through the tough times!

10.01.2022 IT'S WORLD CANCER DAY Listen to our Managing Director, Julie Adams, talk about immunotherapy with 7AD's Martin Agatyn. And if you liked Julie's explanation on the main types of immunotherapy treatments, using the army as an analogie, here it is again :... 1. Give the enemy red hats to make it easier for the army to find and destroy them (monoclonal antibodies) 2. Remove any messages which tell the army not to fight (check point inhibitors) 3. Increase the number of soldiers in the army (increase T-cells) 4. Train the army better (vaccines) https://chemoathome.com.au/its-world-cancer-day/

06.01.2022 SUMMER IS HERE Who doesn't love the Australian Summer? Picnics, Barbecues and long sultry days spent at the beach. Unfortunately, Australian summers come with their own unique set of risks, especially those from the sun. According to recent Cancer Council Australia's statistics, at least two of three people living in Australia will be diagnosed with skin cancer before reaching the age of 70. Somewhat sobering thought, isn't it.... We all remember the very popular 'Slip, Slop, Slap' advertising campaign of a few years ago. This now has two extra pieces of advice: Seek (shade) and Slide (sunglasses). We Aussies are a sun-loving bunch, but please, always carry your 30-plus sunscreen and reapply often (and don't forget to check the expiry date on the bottle). Always wear your hat and sunglasses, and long sleeve shirts of a dark colour are best for reducing the risk of exposure. Enjoy your summer activities, but be sun-smart about it.

06.01.2022 View Health - chemo@home is a fully accredited home-based cancer service in Australia. We have safely delivered over 20,000 chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments in Australian homes over the last 7 years. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) have recently released the below position statement on the safety of home chemotherapy. We want to reassure all our patients that not only does View Health - chemo@home have the correct processes in place to address all ...the concerns raised in the ASCO position statement, our systems are at the forefront of delivering safe care. All treatment given to our patient's are prescribed by Specialist doctors. We have established and strong communication channels with these Specialists and their teams. These Specialists are supportive of the services View Health chemo@home delivers. It is also extremely disappointing that our data, which we submitted to the Journal of Clinical Oncology (ASCOs journal) last year, didn't get published as they said it didn't add any new information to the body of evidence. Reporting on 20,000 safe treatments didn't add to the body of evidence? Then release a position statement saying there is no evidence? #homechemo #cancer #chemoathome #asco #cancertherapy https://www.asco.org//nation%E2%80%99s-cancer-doctors-say-
