15.01.2022 All residents and Guests in Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council should boil their tap water used for drinking water until further notice. This advice has been issued following increase turbidity in the town water supply. This alert applies to all residents in the township of Cherbourg. Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council is working closely with Queensland Health to resolve this situation. The boil water alert will stay in effect until Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council and Quee...nsland Health are confident there is no longer a public health concern. Regular updates will be provided to the community. Consuming unboiled drinking water could lead to illness, especially for vulnerable people (e.g. those who are very young, elderly or immune compromised). If you are concerned about your health contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84), your local doctor or local hospital and advise them of your concern. Customers should bring water to the boil and then allow it to cool before using it. Boiled water can be stored in a clean, closed container for later use. Customers should boil ALL water used for: Drinking Brushing Teeth Washing and preparing food or drinks Preparing baby formula Making ice Bathing infants. Unboiled water can be used for: Flushing of toilets Showers & Baths (but babies and toddlers should be sponge bathed) Washing dishes (if allowed to dry completely before using again) Washing Clothes Council is working hard to identify and fix the problem as soon as possible, and is sorry for the inconvenience. Please share this advice with your neighbours and friends.
