25.01.2022 Thank you to the City of Onkaparinga! The Hall has been successful in receiving a Minor Capital Works grant. This will go towards erecting a new and more secure fence along our road front, which will be particularly beneficial as we look forward to more children's classes & groups and more dog training classes. Thanks also to our volunteers who do most of the work - eg recent new water pipes.

24.01.2022 The first 7 week RSPCA Dog Training Class has now completed with many happy dogs & owners. It was a great success with enough dogs to hold 2 classes. There will be more opportunities in the coming months for various types of classes - let us know if you have a specific request (puppy, agility, trick training, etc) & we will pass it on. Well done to the Cherry Gardens community for being responsible dog owners & supporting RSPCA.

24.01.2022 RSPCA Dog Classes are back at the Hall! Puppy Partnership Program 5 week course for puppies under 14 weeks old Foundation Program Next level Canine College Program... https://www.rspcasa.org.au/servi/dog-services/dog-training/

24.01.2022 Many people in the Adelaide Hills now wake every day to absolutely blackened & dead gardens, which must add to their pain. The Cherry Gardens Memorial Hall provides a drop off site if, over the coming months, you or anyone you know is able to donate potted plant cuttings, potting soil or small plastic pots or tubes (If you intend to leave something please let Helen know on 0414881606) Please let others know.

23.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT MITCHAM COUNCIL WILL NOT RECOGNISE OUR PETITION ON A TECHNICALITY, PLEASE COME IN AND SIGN OUR NEW IN-STORE PETITION TO SAVE KARKOO, ...please keep sharing and showing your support! We have been told by Lindy Taeuber from the Mitcham Council that they will take no notice of an online petition, even though it is recognised as an authentic petition, representative of public opinion, demands and needs. However, PLEASE keep signing our online petition as we will put this forward to the State Government. For our in-store petition we downloaded an official template, ensuring we did everything by the book. Shockingly, the Mitcham council informed us that they will NOT RECOGNISE this since it was not downloaded from their website, despite it being almost identical and following all legal guidelines. This completely goes against the spirit of a petition, which is the voice of public opinion. For the council to ignore this is ridiculous, they are meant to be here for the people and listen to overwhelming public opinion. Once again thank you all for your support, PLEASE come in and sign our new petition to SAVE KARKOO and not let our site be sold to a faceless developer. Sorry for this inconvenience, we truely appreciate the immense support shown.

22.01.2022 If you have horses (or know someone with horses, tell them to) mark this as a diary date. It is well into our fire season, but worth attending as we will all have a heightened awareness & this could just help improve our plans.

16.01.2022 https://www.change.org/p/local-residents-cherry-gardens-and Consider signing the petition re Cherry Gardens and surrounding suburbs to leave Onkaparinga & join Adelaide Hills Council Why? - the average rates are around $257 less pa - Adelaide Hills is much closer to us. The Adelaide Hills community centre is at Stirling, 16 km from the CFS shed compared to Noarlunga Civic Centre 22km away.... - we currently receive around one quarter the representation that Adelaide Hills Council residents enjoy. 02.01.2022 The fridges have arrived! Big Thank You to the City of Onkaparinga https://www.onkaparingacity.com/... The Hall was successful this year in winning a grant to replace our aging 1200L refrigerator with two new 420L fridges. This means that for most functions we only require having one much smaller fridge turned on, saving power. Photo shows Chairperson Bill Semple and Hall Hirer/Groundsman Terry Whittle pondering how to unwrap & install hopefully in time for our next event, the annual Christmas Carols 17th Dec.
