19.01.2022 Tonight Cherry Tree Kindergarten hosted a parent workshop hosted by Michelle Derrig, the author of the picture book Only for me. Parents learnt about the protective behaviours to instill within their children, helping to empower them with the knowledge that their bodies are private. I highly recommend you check out her Facebook page and purchase a copy of her book to share with your children! #onlyforme @ Sutherland, New South Wales, Australia

14.01.2022 Reading from a young age is a critical component of children’s development. It helps develop not only their language and literacy skills, but also their imagination and concentration. This week we placed a focus on the development of these skills as we celebrated book week. We shared so many favourite stories with the children and had an amazing time dressing up. We hope the Cherry Tree children are developing a love for reading that will continue with them throughout the yea...rs. @ Cherry Tree Kindergarten Sylvania

04.01.2022 The council is running a competition, allowing the community to vote on the naming of a local park. One of the options is for the park to be named after Biddy Giles, an Aboriginal lady who acted as a guide, sharing her extensive knowledge of Dharawal Country. We were very excited to hear that Biddy is an ancestor of one of our beautiful families at Cherry Tree. Let’s keep our history and culture alive and vote for Biddy! 03.01.2022 Last week we had a special visit from Elise and Bluey from @southernswimschool at Kirrawee. A huge thank you to all the team for taking the time to share so many important swim safety messages with us.
02.01.2022 Following on from the children's interest in the recent and ongoing bushfires, the educators decided to commence a 'Bushfire investigation,' with the class. Miss Brooke had set up an invetsigation table with stories about bushfires and a diarama of a bushfire landscape. The children immediately came over to explore the table and took particular interest in the animals. They made comments about the bushfires and we will explore these in greater detail over the next week or so. We then read a story called, "Bilby and the bushfire," and spoke about how the fires can impact on our native animals' lives. @ Sylvania, New South Wales, Australia
