04.01.2022 A lovely review from a first time floater yesterday I don't often get a minute to myself and as an introvert that can cause a huge drain on my resources and inevitability my health. Our lives these days are so hectic, with so many distractions and demands on our time. Today I made time to take a moment to reset and restore and I did it in a float tank. ... I have never been in a float tank and I didnt know what to expect. I was ushered down a long hall to a room, softly lit by tealights and no mirrors. A shower in one corner and to my right the float tank. It looks like a space pod, a cocoon in which I could take a brief respite from the noise of the world. Following the instructions I was given, in the privacy of this safe space, I disrobed, showered and stepped into the float tank. The water sparkled in the dim light and as I immersed myself, closing the tanks roof, soft music and a recorded voice guided me through some gentle breathing excercises. The water was tepid and comfortable. It had a texture, almost like a silk robe. It felt soft and I floated on my back, weightless for the first time in memory. The water felt supportive, like it was pushing back against my weight, taking my weight and I was able to relax so deeply into it. It felt like I imagine a baby feels in its mothers arms. The lights went out and the music stopped and for the first time in a long time the only noise was my breathing, the only distraction my thoughts. The longer I lay suspended in the silk water, the deeper I relaxed and then, silence. My mind was quiet, my breath gentle, my body weightless. Bliss. And after what felt like an eternity and no time at all, the soft music started, the recorded voice drew me back into the room and it was time to reemerge from this beautiful cocoon into the world again. Now I am sure that there are many many scientific health benefits to the float tank but today, the biggest gift I received was a moment to myself. No noise, no distractions. I will be back!
