Dick Smith Foods closing up production as not enough consumers are supporting his Australian products, Australian made and owned products. We can’t leave it up to the large supermarkets. When the consumer finally realises that they are voting with their dollar and if they just STOP buying the imported lines, ONLY THEN will it be realised and they will stop bringing them in. Australia...n Government do not do us any favours. Cost of living is higher and the minimum wage is just that...... MINIMUM. Starting down south we will set off from Hobart where we catch up with Hannah Maloney from . Goodlife Permaculture. Then It is across to Melbourne to chat with Dr Nick Rose Sustain: The Australian Food Network as well as Pooja Mallya from The Melbourne Food. Heading north we catch up with Clarence Slockee who will share his work in indigenous edible landscapes. In Sydney we catch up with Bridget to hear about Sydney Edible Garden Trail and its reach and engagement during the lockdown, then in Brisbane Carissa from Northey Street City Farm and Susanna Engelhard form Samford Edible Garden Trail. Its then up to Cairns and Amy from Manoora Community Garden and across to Alice where we meet up with Em and the Sunday working bee at Alice Springs Community Garden. 02.01.2022 We are collaborating with our wonderful Adelaide Hospitality Heroes to produce 2500 meals each week to help many South Australians who are experiencing food ins...ecurity during the coronavirus pandemic. The impact of coronavirus has hit hard for many of us in South Australia. Food insecurity in particular is a real issue being faced in our community. We are incredibly proud to be able to work with our Hospitality Heroes to alleviate some of that stress. With food relief at an all-time high, kitchens are in daily use and teams of our talented chefs and hospitality friends are producing heart-warming, healthy meals to help charities meet the ever-increasing demand. The Foodprint Experience epitomizes sustainable eating and is creating meals using rescued food as well as adding extra ingredients that have been regeneratively produced or grown. They don’t know what they're are getting until OzHarvest delivers to their kitchen. Then the menu is planned and a big cook up ensues. Think ... Pork sausage with Ragu and Rice! Parliament of South Australia - House of Assembly are also putting their kitchen teams to good use in quieter times, with fresh, quality meals that OzHarvest collect twice a week and distribute to local crisis care accommodation. At our community kitchen at 19 on Green our OzHarvest friends Food According to Bree Paul Cleary, Fahrenheit Catering Adelaide Genevieve Harris, Kate Richards @ Africola and Juydta Slupnicki are cooking up highly nutritious soups, vegetarian dishes, pasta and curries from rescued food. The kitchen team at Adelaide Oval are preparing and cooking 1,500 meals a week for our drivers to collect twice a week and distribute to local charities. Food relief is at an all-time high and many of the charities we deliver to have been forced to close. Being able to provide a regular supply of cooked meals will go a long way to help many families struggling to put food on the table.
