25.01.2022 Did I ever tell you about the sleep window? It’s something you don’t want to miss, as if you do, your child becomes overtired and has a much harder time going to sleep. Find out more about the sleep window and how to help your child go to sleep calm and happy. The sleep window is that perfect window of time in which a baby is ready for sleep, and will calmly and happily go to sleep. It’s so important that you read your baby’s sleep signs and don’t miss their window other...wise you can be sure nap times (and even night times) won’t go to plan. https://www.cherylthesleepcoach.com.au//your-babys-perfec/

15.01.2022 One of the most important things I tell parents who are starting to sleep train their children, is to pick a strategy and stick to it. If you have a partner, make sure you’re on the same page so you can support each other. When I work with families, I offer my support through the whole process, I’m here to hold your hand and we check in daily until we are all satisfied.

14.01.2022 Sharing the 8 most common reasons why your baby might be crying. 1. Help me with my nappy" The nappy might need changing, or it might be too tight. ... 2. "Mumma, I need to connect with you" Bubs don't like being ignored, and they can even get bored. Try singing a song, offering a toy or a cuddle. 3. "Make it stop!" On the other hand, infants easily get overstimulated. Retreat to a quiet place or swaddle your baby so he feels secure. 4. "My tummy is hurting!" To relieve gas, try burping her, then gently massage her belly or put her down for some supervised tummy time. 5. "I'm sleepy." Who doesnt get cranky when theyre tired? 6. "Im too hot." Check bubs hands and feet, forehead, and the back of his neck to see if he's hot or cold, and remove or add clothes as needed. 7. "Im uncomfortable." A clothing tag or a too-tight one-piece can be annoying. Check clothing, nappy and sheets, and remove anything that might be irritating. 8. "These teeth are killing me!" Teething discomfort can start well before the teeth are shown. Use a clean finger to massage her gums and offer a cool teething ring. Hope this helps... Love from Cheryl.

14.01.2022 How was your weekend!?

14.01.2022 Many families have recommended Cosmic Kids yoga and it really is a great place for stories, yoga and fun. So much variety for kids in all ages. Very impressed with how it’s helped with mindfulness for both kids and parents.

13.01.2022 The thing that’s always perfect in our household, is the sleep When I first met this family of five in their inner Sydney home, they were struggling with a solid routine and heading down a very painful path of sleep depravation and frustration. With three full time working parents, and young twins who wouldn’t sleep - life was getting hard to handle. Being able to help them was a very rewarding feeling for me. Twin families have a very special place in my heart, and it’s on...e of my specialties When I meet the parents today they smile and tell me that if I hadn’t helped them, they wouldn’t have had their lives at all. We’re really mastering it now, and we never have to worry about sleep anymore. I’m so thankful that I got the opportunity to check in on them, and see how you’re all doing so well now. I loved seeing these adorable little ones again.

13.01.2022 It’s ok to say all of them!

13.01.2022 By having routine and boundaries in place, you are set up for creating a safe space for your child, making it easier for them to learn and regulate their emotions, focus and enjoy. I can help you by personalising a routine that works for YOU and YOUR family. Give me a call if you want to book in a consultation or a group workshop. Cheryl.

13.01.2022 If you feel like something’s not quite the same with someone you know - trust that gut instinct of yours and take the time to ask them Are you OK? If someone says they’re not OK, make time to listen, encourage action and check in. That conversation could change, or even save, their life. Those of you who know me personally, know that my house is a safe zone for you. The kettle can be on in minutes, or if you prefer a beer, vodka or wine, that's easily sorted too. I wil...l always do my best to be available to you... and you are always welcome! (Shared from Aussie Legends Alphabet)

11.01.2022 Today I joined another great workshop for those affected by cancer. 11.01.2022 A good routine doesn’t only mean bedtime. It’s important to have the whole day covered, if you want to reduce stress and encourage your child to be calmer and happier. Daytime naps and night sleep are connected and by having a good daily routine you will set yourself up for a better rest ;)

10.01.2022 As a mother myself, I know the feelings of agony and desperation when you have a child that struggles to settle and sleep. I know how hard it is when they wont stop crying, or when you want to cry yourself because you feel like youve tried EVERTHING. I DO NOT believe in leaving babies or children to cry it out (CIO), nor in the practices of controlled crying. My technique is always with the childs and your mental health benefits in mind, not leaving anyone behind. In the f...amiliar comforts of your home, we will use gentle sleep techniques that reassures your child that youre right there with them. By following a sleep plan put together for your personal needs, your child will learn to calmly go to sleep (and go back to sleep) without needing to be rocked, patted, bounced, driven or fed. 10.01.2022 Beds are for sleeping and for sex. Just because you aren’t doing the one in there, doesn’t mean you can’t do the other. Sleeping separately is more common than you’d think. Find out how to keep connected when sleeping apart.

09.01.2022 Feeling edgy, having trouble concentrating, losing sleep and waking early with anxious feelings are completely normal human reactions to a completely abnormal situation. Worrying about both the present and the future is part of the experience right now. https://www.strongfitnessmag.com.au//six-steps-to-a-bette/

09.01.2022 We all love the snuggles, and they are very important to both children and parents! Being sleep deprived can be tougher than anything and make it hard to enjoy those precious moments. If you need help getting your sleep and energy back, there’s nothing wrong with asking for help. Call me anytime and know that no question is too small.

09.01.2022 I often get asked whether kids going to bed around 8:30-9 pm is ok? Proper sleep habits promote energy, wellness, learning, good moods and sanity. Best of all, enough sleep will help keep happy, contented, thriving children. When maintaining a consistent routine of meal, sleep and wake time, having a guide is helpful for all of us to set our internal clock.... So, how much sleep should our kids be getting? Here is a guideline of what we should aim for in a 24-hour period: 1-8 months: approximately 14 to 15 hours 8-10 months: approximately 12 to 15 hours 10-15 months: approximately 12 to 14 hours 15 months to 3 years: approximately 12 to 14 hours 3-6 years: approximately 11 to 13 hours 7-12 years: approximately 10 to 11 hours I'm a gentle sleep consultant. I do not practice CIO or controlled crying, and I always tailor my service after each individual family. Feel free to contact me if you need help to create a healthy sleep routine for your family. https://www.cherylthesleepcoach.com.au/testimonials/

08.01.2022 Fatigue? I've seen quite a few posts about sleep problems and over tiredness (both children and adults) in parenting support groups lately. It makes me happy that this is raised, and that you are reaching out. It's time to talk about the role of sleep and post natal depression. Warning signs: The effects of prolonged sleep deprivation are very similar to the symptoms of perinatal depression and anxiety such as feeling despondent, sad, or crying for no reason as well as havi...ng sudden mood swings. So it’s important to know the other symptoms of perinatal depression and anxiety, which can be: Persistent worrying, being nervous or panicky Being easily annoyed and irritated Withdrawing from friends and family Difficulties sleeping, even when your baby is sleeping Abrupt mood swings Feeling constantly tired and lacking energy Physical symptoms like nausea, vomiting, cold sweats, lack of appetite Having little or no interest in the things that normally bring you joy Fear of being alone or with others Finding it difficult to focus, concentrate or remember Increased alcohol or drug use Panic attacks Obsessive or compulsive behaviours Thoughts of death, suicide or harming your baby. It's important to get help if you're experiencing any or some of these symptoms. Even if you just don't feel quite right, talk to your GP for support and help. The sooner you get help, the sooner you will being to feel better. My passion for empowering parents with gentle sleep techniques first became obvious to me after being involved in a paediatric ward for six months. Seeing tired, exhausted and desperate parents with no-one to turn to for support led me to fulfil a dream to guide mothers, fathers and families through times of crisis. You are welcome to contact me here on Facebook, send me an email, or give me a call anytime. I love to help. Cheryl

07.01.2022 Let’s talk lullabies! Soothing for your baby and for you, and very helpful with consistency, routine and relaxation. I’ve been working on a playlist that I’d like to share with you all shortly, and I came across these beautiful indigenous lullabies. The kids love them, and it was nice to mix it up with some new tunes Have a listen and let me know what you think.

03.01.2022 I have loved being able to share my expertise even during this time when we have been physically distancing ourselves, and appreciate everyone who has reached out and invited me to take part in online workshops. So glad to learn that it has been so very well received. Being at home with little ones and your own worries, can make it hard to plan meetings regardless of the restrictions easing around us. 02.01.2022 Really, some of these things may be challenging to implement, but they’re relatively simple. https://news.westernu.ca//study-why-your-child-isnt-sleep/

02.01.2022 "Cheryl came highly recommended, so after 9 months of unsettled nights, she came to help us for 3 nights, saving our sanity in the process, and our little one has been sleeping through ever since. She provided gentle and reassuring techniques to use for both day and night sleeps, and has been at the end of the phone for any queries or support we have needed. My kids love her! I would highly recommend Cheryl to anyone needing help with their little ones, to gain their sleep and their lives back." https://www.cherylthesleepcoach.com.au/testimonials/

01.01.2022 Routine! I cannot stress enough how valuable it is to establish a consistent schedule for nap times, bedtime and wake times! By providing your child with a carefully designed sleep routine, you can significantly decrease their level of separation anxiety as they form a greater level of trust and security within the defined structure you provide for them. Allow me to offer a comparison: think of how difficult it can be to sleep in a completely foreign country when youre jet lagged! Now imagine how challenging it would be for a child to adjust to inconsistent bedtimes quite difficult! https://www.cherylthesleepcoach.com.au/2020/09/07/anxiety/
