24.01.2022 Hello, Chess Enthusiasts- All Newcastle District Chess Association activities are currently CANCELLED until further notice due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines - This includes the weekly Tuesday evening chess meetings at Wests City and any tournaments and events that have been included on our yearly calendar - This cancellation is effective immediately and will continue until further notice -... Wests City, one of our main hosting venues, have cancelled all social club activities at their venue - Further updates about this situation will be provided via email once any changes to this arrangement has been announced - Thank you and stay safe & take care, Brett Saunders NDCA President

15.01.2022 Happy New Year! Not much has changed during the one month break NDCA had off during the Xmas & New Year break - it is still not feasible for us to play chess over the board at our usual, first choice venue, Wests City. We will continue to offer the same over the board chess opportunities in Newcastle that we successfully did towards the end of 2020 - that's Tuesday evening from 7pm @ Encounter Church in Wallsend and Friday evening from 630pm @ PCYC Broadmeadow - see below f...or further details. Newcastle Chess will return to over the board play from next week, Tuesday 19th January from 7pm @ Encounter Church in Wallsend - the following Tuesday, 26th January, is Australia Day, so we will hold a blitz or rapid tournament on this evening too - further details about this to follow next week. Chess @ PCYC Broadmeadow will commence at the start of the NSW School Term 1 for 2021, which the first day will be Friday, 29th January. FURTHER DETAILS ABOUT VENUES: - 1. Facility requirements: - No alcohol is allowed - Covid safe practises to be adhered to. 2. PCYC Broadmeadow We can have max 20 players in the room, so could offer 10-12 positions for adult players. It starts at 6:30pm on Friday nights and goes until 9pm. To play though, normal PCYC conditions will apply which include $15 annual membership fee to the PCYC plus $7 per session. The pieces and board will be clean at the end of the night.

The NDCA will be hosting an XMAS Blitz tournament on Tuesday, December 15th 2020, starting at 7pm sharp This will also be the final Tuesday evening for chess for 2020 - come along & get in the spirit & play some over the board chess!... Note: PCYC Broadmeadow will be closing for 2020 after Friday, 11th December 2020 This will be there last evening of chess if you are interested to attend before this date.
