25.01.2022 Another 3 kilos of gorgeous Figs picked from the trees today.....I think a Chocolate & Fig tart will be baked tomorrow along with Hot Cross Buns....Now that Holy Week is here I will allow Hot Cross Buns into the pantry, I dont know how long they will last though....this could be a week long activity.

25.01.2022 If this evenings Red Sky is anything to go by, tomorrow looks like being a Shepherds Delight along with Pearls delight

23.01.2022 Another reason to love Chestnut Hill during Autumn, the harvesting of the Fig crop has just commenced OMG these Figs are so yum, a small cutting given to me by a returning B&B guest approx 15 yrs ago has brought more joy than I ever imagined. Many of our friends now have cuttings from this Green Fig tree.

23.01.2022 Wow what a fantastic Day one of the Gippsland Tourism Conference @ Lakes Entrance, Tom OToole from Beechworth Bakery, what an amazing motivational speaker. 21.01.2022 What a magnificent sunset to complete a weekend of great food company & warm weather.....Welcome to the start of summer in East Gippsland

20.01.2022 Well the Domestic Goddess in me served up warm roasted Chestnuts as part of the afternoon tea service to our B&B guests. I then moved on & made a Garlic & Rosemary pizza base & topped it with Prosciutto, fresh ripe Figs & Blue Cheese OMG...gorgeous. There is a downside though...I must take more ice with my Johnnie Walker.....instead of pouring the remaining Olive Oil back into the large bottle.....Yep....I poured it into the Johnnie Walker bottle...Mmmmm Ill let you know the results of the taste test tomorrow night !!

20.01.2022 Unfortunatley Todays Metung Farmers Market has had to be canceled due to the high winds. I have been able to suggest other activities to our B&B guests, The Native plant Bonsai exhibition & demonstrations in Bairnsdale & also the Wool & Craft Exhibition which is also in Bairnsdale, both events are indoors protecting you from the inclement weather conditions

20.01.2022 Another glorious spring morning , Lorraine Lee roses blooming & birds singing.... Heaven at Swan Reach,

18.01.2022 Thank you to our Mystery Guest Rod Meyer for his write up on Chestnut Hill which appeared in todays Age, Rod visited us over the very busy Long weekend in March, Im pleased to see that even while under the pump with a Full House we didnt drop our 4.5 star standards!!!

18.01.2022 Another bag full of yummie Figs collected today, I look like a drowned rat though !! The gentle rain meant I had to collect the ripe Figs otherwise they would have gone rotten on the tree.....So after a warm shower I guess I will return to Domestic Goddess duties & create a Masterpiece with the Figs....

15.01.2022 Our gorgeous Christmas tree and trimmings have been packed away for another year, what stories will I be able to share with it when it wakes from its slumber in December 2013? [We usually wait for 12th night however there is a 24hr gap in our reservations & it takes 24 hrs to dismantle, put away and clean up. Tomorrows guests will not be inconvenienced by decorations strewn from one end of the house to the other!!

15.01.2022 A Big weekend here in East Gippsland this weekend, The Bruthen Blues festival is a must do and the weather forecast is great, then there is a Motor Fest in Bairnsdale for all the Petrol heads & on Sunday a triathlon for those wanting to burn off some energy is taking place at Paynesville, with music in the Tin Shed on the foreshore for the afternoon....so make East Gippsland the place to be this weekend.....

05.01.2022 Autumn must be the Best season for produce ...apart from Prawn season of course :) Our B&B guests will be tasting homegrown produce over the coming weeks, one couple checked out with a gift of roasted Chestnuts to enjoy when they arrive home this evening.Quince, Figs & Chestnuts....

05.01.2022 Breakfast at Chestnut Hill this morning, what a glorious Spring day, I guess you could say there was fish on the menu, with the sight of at least 25 Pelicans enjoying their feeding frenzy.
