25.01.2022 Barambah Organics has received another 50,000 glass bottles today, to be introduced into our Goodwill Reuse Program. Thank you to those who are returning the gl...ass bottles in a pristine, clean condition. We should be right now, to fill all orders. It is incredibly good to hear that Canberra is having a plastic summit today. Only 12% of plastic packaging is recycled in Australia. A 400% improvement in recycling needs to happen, if Australia is to meet any future global warming target. Policy change has to happen in Australia, in regards to recycling. Even Trumps America, has a Govt policy enforcing plastic manufacturers to reuse plastic waste. Lets be the change. Not all dairy is created equally, clean and green like Barambah Organics! #bethechange #zerowaste #reducewaste #recycle #organicfood #australiancertifiedorganic #workingtogether #cleanandgreen #recyclingaustralia #makeadifference #tastethedifference

23.01.2022 Chewsday is fortunate to get lots of our fresh fruit & veges via Food Connect. We all need nutritious food, and sourcing through Food Connect and/or collectives enables all of us to be part of an amazing network of food and care. Even - and perhaps especially - in times of social distancing for everyones health. Chewsday members - please get in touch if it would be helpful for someone to drop off your box to you. We have already had several offers of people happy to do this, and everyone benefits if anyone who is ill can stay home and recover as well as possible. Take care

23.01.2022 "Mainstream understandings of botany and ecology have been used to justify violence against queer, trans, indigenous, and people of color; female, disabled, and marginalized bodies. The field of queer ecology seeks to reimagine the natural world in a way that values and affirms all life." Food for thought

22.01.2022 Relationships add real nurturing value to the food we eat. Eating and cooking locally is also funtheres this great dynamic of what the season bringsand it also puts us in touch with some of the issues that the farmers facetheres too much water, theres not enough water, theres heat, theres early frosts. It gives us empathy for what farmers go through when we see some crops are short or early or late. Hopefully that creates an opportunity to [get more people] to look at policies that help support farmers and more directly address climate change. https://civileats.com//exploring-a-decade-of-big-changes-/

19.01.2022 "Its not just a matter of what you eat. Its about the intricate values that are involved in harvesting these resources, how we manage for these resources and when. Interesting parallels in North America as we face similar problems here.

13.01.2022 At Chewsdays we often share bulk milk ordered from Barambah. Some of us order full 1L and 2L bottles, and others being our own bottles, minimising plastic waste and keeping costs lower. Send us a message if youd like to come see how we do things.

13.01.2022 Mining and gas titles cover 37% of Queenslands highest quality farmlands & most important ecological areas! Thats 7.7 million hectares that neither we, nor wildlife, can afford to lose. Please sign your support for Plan to Grow Queenslands charter to protect the areas we all depend on: https://www.plantogrow.org.au/charter

13.01.2022 Hey spud, youre looking good! Have a great day

12.01.2022 These crops have always adapted, says Marie Haga, the executive director of the Crop Trust. Now climate change is so fast that these poor plants are not able to adapt. Thats why we need the diversity, because the diversity is what we use when we breed new plants which can tolerate new climates, she adds.

10.01.2022 While using 75 percent of the total land that is being used for agriculture, industrial agriculture based on fossil fuel-intensive, chemical-intensive monocultures produce only 30 percent of the food we eat, while small, biodiverse farms using 25 percent of the land provide 70 percent of the food. https://www.commondreams.org//we-need-biodiversity-based-a#

10.01.2022 https://mobile.abc.net.au//pacific-migrant-worke/11664882 "Well argue about the plastic that covers a cucumber as opposed to how the cucumber got here," she says. Shed like shoppers in the fruit and veg section to ask themselves: why is something so cheap?

09.01.2022 Some news from the people and places we depend on for our food:

09.01.2022 Looking forward to the wee can, wee can!

08.01.2022 Please support this call for a sustainable future for Regional Queensland - giving regional communities the voice they need to plan for diverse and sustainable economies and to protect vital farmlands, natural areas and cultural sites. As an added connection, one of the leaders of this initiative was a member of Chewsday for many years!

07.01.2022 "Though some grocery stores are adding precautions, such as limiting the number of customers in the store, marking spots on the floor to keep people waiting in line six-feet apart, and cleaning registers, they are some of the last places where large numbers of people regularly gather as the nation faces guidance to stay home. Many shoppers (and grocery employees) are worried they might come into contact with COVID-19 while doing their shopping, and are limiting trips to the s...tore. Despite the fact that there have been no major disruptions to the food supply, there are regular shortages of flour, eggs, chicken, ground beef, and toilet paper, among other staples." https://www.eater.com//csa-trend-coronavirus-covid-19-stay Weve always known Chewsdays is pretty fab because of our fresh delicious food, cosy, friendly community, connection to farmers, minimal packaging and great value. But it turns out weve got even more going for us in this crisis time - never has there been a better time to cut the big supermarkets out of your life. If youd like to have a peek to see how we do it, send us a message and well be happy to send you some info or welcome you to a socially distanced and well sanitised packing night

06.01.2022 Fantastic initiatives for exchanging seeds and seedlings in our suburbs! Check out the seedling hubs in Highgate Hill and West End, and please contact Jonno Sris office if you are interested in hosting one!

05.01.2022 Hoping that we can find a way forward from this time of crisis, to a fairer, more sustainable world.

01.01.2022 Happy New Year to you
