With that also comes the possibility of encountering snakes. Spring is when snakes emerge from hibernation and are looking for food and mating partners. If you see a snake in your garden, don't try to catch or kill it. Walk away from the snake slowly and keep an eye on it from a safe distance of several metres. Keep your ...pets safely away from it and the snake will usually move on in its own time. Snakes don’t want to be near you any more than you want to be near snakes. If the snake has decided to stay, call Wildcare Helpline on 9474 9055 to be referred to a volunteer reptile remover.
