22.01.2022 Throw Back Thursday to the 2019 Australian Pole Expo

19.01.2022 2019 ACT & Tasmanian Pole Championships competitors - Please email me at [email protected] before 15 December 2019 for your photos.

13.01.2022 Happy hump day! Let's talk about style. It's amazing to look around and be inspired. Do think in your head, I want dance like that or draw like that or decorate like that? In my case I like particular styles of photography and used to think I sucked at particular styles but you know what??? It's not that I sucked at them, I just have my own style and that's ok. You will notice on my IG portfolio: - the pole has to be straight. Sometimes how I have framed a shot in camera, I ...can't straighten in post production because I'll crop out a hand or a foot. Luckily it doesn't happen too often. See if you notice ;P I don't like the tilt look because it doesn't demonstrate how hard it is to be in a particular position on the pole but that's just me. - I always aim for skin has to be skin colour. I don't like colour tinges on bodies. I don't know if you notice - do you? I see a lot of pink, yellow or some photographers reduce the colour saturation so skin is ghostly white. Sometimes lighting is out of my control but I will always request my preference to make people look somewhat alive with a pulse. As an aerial artist, pole dancer, dancer, what is your style?Once you find it, own it. You might have to try different styles until you find your style but that is the fun of it. Keep working on YOU and YOUR style and you will love your journey!!!!

09.01.2022 Just gearing up for another work week....here is another fun fact. I am a photographer who also bakes and makes balls I had to make a separate Instagram from @chichuphoto because all my pole friends teased me about how I mixed in baking and plant images. So I made another Instagram @istringdifferentthings I know some of you had my sugar cookies at the 2019 Aus Pole Expo ... And others have had my - passionfruit melting moments and - caramel slice Damn that sugar addiction!!!! Have a fun and safe week (for anyone who have weather extremes around them ) Canberra peeps can join me making balls at the end of this month!

05.01.2022 What are some questions you want to ask me? I'll give you a few facts and answer some questions I've heard around the traps but never get asked in person but please feel free to ask anything you might be pondering :) 1. I am a freelancer photographer. You can view my photographic portfolio on my IG @chichuphoto... 2. I have a full time Monday to Friday job which is NOT photography related. I also have plants and baking interests which you will see on my IG @istringdifferentthings 3. I don't post much of my portrait work as I get referrals through word of mouth. 4. I don't post my work if it includes children. Parents should have that control of what goes on the interwebs because once its there, even if you delete it, there is still a digital footprint. 5. When will I see the pole photos? Please see 2. Also, if there was less than ideal lighting, wardrobe malfunctions, no tanning, etc at the competition, it takes A LOT of extra time to edit the images. I curate my photos so rather than posting everything - I am sure you don't want unflattering photos of you available to anyone on the interwebs?! 6. Why didn't you capture the shot of that trick or part of my floor routine? You may not have done a full rotation on the pole to allow an opportunity for the photographer to capture a great and flattering angle. Again, you don't want an unflattering shot on the interwebs, right?! Also, whilst digital cameras are fantastic, they are not always going to give 100% focus 100% of the time especially if there is less than ideal lighting conditions. Lots of flipping in a routine doesn't always translate well in still images but would be amazing for the video. 7. Why are do the photos look grainy? If there was really low light, then the images will not be a crisp as they could be if there is sufficient light. This is always a negotiation at each competition. It's always about the photos, yes??? Remember that the human eye is a very intelligent organ and automatically adjusts to the available light. What you might see and think is enough light, your eye has already intuitively adjusted to the lighting situation. A digital camera needs your to help to see but certainly has its limitations. 8. Talk to your instructor or other seasoned competitors about what song you are planning to use for your competition routine. There are some songs at MPD and APC that are repeated at every competition/state heat. Try and be original rather than chose a song that has been used 20 times eg. Pony, Toxic (slow version), Survivor, Game of Survival. I am sure there are a few more........ Send me any other questions and we can have another Q&A.

05.01.2022 So I was unexpectedly helping out at the Australian Pole Expo last week and was chatting to some participants there. What did they learn from me? TAN, TAN, TAN. It takes so much longer to edit white skin because white is REFLECTIVE. ... Have a great week.
