The train sculpture stands in a park opposite the Chidlow Tavern, where the train station once stood.... The Chidlow Tavern is seeking an experienced and passionate CHEF / COOK to work in our busy kitchen. Located just off the Great Eastern Hwy in the heart of Chidlow, we are a small country pub that offers great food and service. While a majority of your time here will be spent preparing our standard (but awesome) pub grub, we also specialise in running events of all sizes ... from fun Halloween parties with 80 100 people, to International scale BBQ events where several thousand people will come through our town. There’s plenty to keep you interested! Hours are casual and will include key shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunches and dinners and events. We are open 7 days a week and serve mostly traditional style pub food ~ though we are happy to have your creativity. To be considered you must possess the following: Relevant trades qualification or equivalent work experience At least 2 years' experience working in a similar pub/tavern environment Experience cooking pub food Experience in serving up to 100 covers on busy nights Work in all areas of the kitchen operation Serve a consistently high-quality product as instructed Maintenance of equipment and utensils Ensure that the kitchen is always in a clean and hygienic state Good knowledge of food items and basic cooking techniques with exposure to sauces, larder, vegetable and butchery Knowledge of the kitchen sections and associated service styles A thorough understanding of Health and Safety and Food Hygiene
