A century later, Defence is again supporting police at Delegate as part of #OpCOVID19Assist Our people, #YourADF, are here to help!

18.01.2022 Security leaders from across the Pacific. My Australian Federal Police & Australian Border Force colleagues and I shared our experiences of security challenges in a COVID-19 environment. #JHoPS20 provided a forum to discuss our approaches to maritime and border security, as well as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief response in what has been an unprecedented setting this year. We look forward to meeting again, hopefully in person, in 2021 for the next Joint Heads of Pacific Security event as we seek more opportunities for collaboration in the security sector.

16.01.2022 Today, #YourADF is rightly held to account for allegations of grave misconduct by some members of our Special Forces community during operations in Afghanistan. I encourage everyone to read the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force’s (IGADF) Afghanistan Inquiry report. The findings are deeply concerning, however we should not let them diminish the good work and legacy of the men and women who served in Afghanistan with honour. I acknowledge everyone who has come f...orward to the Inquiry. I appreciate this is a challenging time and I reiterate the importance of reaching out to support services at any time. 14.01.2022 A privilege to be accompanied by distinguished guests and thank a generation who were called to serve. Seventy five years ago, a weary Australia laid down its arms and felt the first, joyous stirrings of peace. An entire country had been called to serve, and answered the call with courage, endurance, mateship, and sacrifice. A great victory had been won at great cost. Nearly a million Australians enlisted to serve. Almost 40,000 lost their lives in the performance of their du...ty. Millions more stepped up to serve their country in its time of need whether as volunteers, sparing what they could in donations, or doing what needed to be done to fill the gaps left by those deployed to fight. We remember them all. It was a truly national effort. We are proud of their service, and the spirit they embodied is alive today. We honour them through being of service once again to our country, our communities, and each other.
