25.01.2022 WARNING: Pandemic Predators - Child Abuse arrests surge in lockdown. Who is your child really talking to?

25.01.2022 Don't think for one minute that another epidemic is not happening! The lockdown in Victoria is fuelling domestic violence and child abuse. What is happening behind closed, isolated doors should not be underestimated. If you have previously suspected, or now suspect, now is the time to report more than ever.

22.01.2022 Congratulations Nat and Cecelia on your 100th Podcast on Podcast One for The Wellness Collective. Looks like you had some fun in the studio with your 100th episode complete with bubbles. Organic of course? Very, very proud of you! I still think my two episodes had the highest ratings!!

22.01.2022 I am so often asked by parents what is the best piece of advice I could give them. Without doubt it is to always take the time to "listen" to your child/ren. This also applies to grandparents, aunties, uncles etc. Building relationships is about building respect and trust and hopefully that trust will lead a young person who may be experiencing hurt, pain, trauma and yes abuse back to you because you took the time. Having a close relationship also places you in a position to ...notice changes in personalities and behaviours. Today I spent some time with two families who's children have been subject to grooming and abuse. One child and parents are struggling with the ongoing impact, and the another set of parents suffering together as their child did not make it through the pain. It is heartbreaking! Take the time to listen because if you don't someone else will, and that replacement may very well be a dangerous replacement. See more

22.01.2022 PARENTS, CARERS, GRANDPARENTS, AUNTIES, UNCLES AND EVERYONE ELSE: I invite you to listen to a two part Podcast I did last year for the Wellness Collective at the TripleM Studios in Melbourne, hosted by Dr Natalie Kringoudis and Cecelia Ramsdale. This two part series looked at the different types of child sex offenders and how they think, operate, groom and infiltrate families and organisations. PODCAST 1 Network Title: Keeping our loved ones safe.... Podcast dates: Part 1: Feb 01, 2019 Part 2: Feb 08, 2019 www.childprotectionsolutions.com.au

19.01.2022 CPS is in Darwin conducting briefings and Customised Child Protection / Child Sex Offender Awareness Intensive Training for Baptist Churches NT, designed to keep children and churches safe.

16.01.2022 Since the Pell finding was handed down this morning my phone and emails have not stopped. Pell’s conviction was quashed based on a finding that the court could not rule out the possibility of doubt. Two other courts did, but that is the legal process and system.... like it or not. Might be a bit more to play out here?

15.01.2022 TODAY I spent a couple of hours with yet another person who for the first time in her life disclosed systematic sexual abuse by a relative (uncle) between the age of 13-17 years. This person is now 52 and now thinking about reporting the offender to police. My role in this space (which is sadly in demand) is not to advise people because this must be the decision of the individual, but to explain the process warts and all in order for them to make an informed decision. Of cour...se if I identified young people who may be at risk right now from the alleged offender, the discussion would take a different shape. The story is one of not only sexual abuse, but all the associated trimmings. Emotional abuse, blackmail, threats, manipulation, power, guilt, shame and on it goes. This is a far too familiar story and every aspect of it that was shared was re lived as it was shared. The additional dynamic is that this person screamed for help, which never came. In fact, it was covered up by a person who was in a position of leadership, trust and power. This person now knowing the process, is faced with making a decision, but at least today she was heard and listened to for the first time. And there is a distinct difference between being heard..... to being listened to! Some child molesters are similar in some ways to COVD19, they don't discriminate! Please share if you are happy to do so. Carl Collins Executive Director CPS

15.01.2022 There are training programs........and then there are training programs. Shorts cuts are usually costly!

03.01.2022 PARENTS BE WARNED. Over the coming months I am intending to post more frequently, and conduct regular FB live chat segments for parents. Please, please, please be aware that during an extended period of time where young people will be at home and most likely spending even more time on-line, that child sex predators will be more active.... Predators seize opportunities, make no mistake about it! Parents make sure that you know what your children are doing at all times when they are on computers/devices. In terms of teenagers, make sure that you make them fully aware of the dangers. Yep, they think they know it all but the reality is they don't! Predators are generally visually orientated and will seek photos, identifying information and eventually seek to meet. So, what are your kids doing on line, and who are they really talking to? Please share my posts with your friends. Carl Collins Executive Director CPS

03.01.2022 Well I know I haven't posted for a while but from a CPS perspective things have been more than busy. This is the second time that this has happened to me. Working out of one of my favourite Friday morning cafe's this morning and I looked up and a little girl was standing right next to me. She said what's your name? I said Carl, what's yours?... She said Annie. She said I'm going to my friends house today. Before I could respond her mother came up, grabbed her, gave me a filthy look and I heard her say how many times have I told you not to talk to strangers. Not bad advice, but I thought, lady if you only knew what I do! See more
