15.01.2022 Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Childers Backpackers Hostel fire which claimed 15 lives. With deep respect to the memory of those lives lost, Bundaberg Regional Council will share a video compilation from 6pm this evening to commemorate their memory and reflect on the events of 20 years ago.

08.01.2022 Update: Following on from Federal and State Government advice, Council has made the tough decision to cancel Childers Festival in 2020. With the amount of planning, resourcing, talent and logistics required to deliver the event, it was necessary to make the call now. We understand this is disappointing for stakeholders and patrons and thank everyone for their understanding. We look forward to Childers Festival 2021, an event we know will be much anticipated after this year’s gap year.
