24.01.2022 We regret to advise that the Childers Show Society Committee have made the decision that it is in the best interest of our community to cancel the 2020 Childers Show. This decision has not been made lightly as we follow advise from health officials and Bundaberg Regional Council the closure of all venues and programs involving public gatherings to protect against COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We thank you for your understanding and support at this time and understand the disappoin...tment. Take care during these times! During this time the Committee is still working hard at organising a bigger and better 2021 Childers Show. Any enquires please contact President Chloe Johnson 0437621097.

21.01.2022 BURSARY SPONSORSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT The State Government is partnering with a rural women’s group to give those doing it tough on the land a chance to recharge an...d reconnect. Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries Mark Furner has announced $9,000 in bursaries to the Queensland Rural Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN) who will select recipients to attend their annual conference in Goondiwindi in September. These bursaries will allow rural women facing financial difficulties with the means to attend the QRRRWN conference. Provided through the Drought Relief Assistance Scheme, the bursaries will cover travel and accommodation costs as well as registration fees for the two days of the gathering. Mr Furner praised the QRRRWN for its valuable work supporting rural women in times of need. They undertake projects to build women’s capacities, strengthen connections between inspiring women and empower networks to enable members to do more for themselves and their communities." More importantly, it’s a chance for these women to rejuvenate, draw support and companionship from each other and be empowered to go back to help their rural communities grow in good times and in bad. Queensland AgriFutures rural women’s award winner Natasha Roebig, who will be a keynote speaker at the conference, says the conference was an important opportunity for women in agriculture to connect and inspire growth in the industry. Rural women are powerhouses, often delivering complex projects on tight timeframes with limited essential tools available. The drought has been draining on many families across Australia and knowing that there is a strong network such as QRRRWN on hand to listen and help guide us through tough times is valuable. Online bursary application form available here: https://www.qrrrwn.org.au/bursary-application-form/ Tickets to Westpac Agribusiness Breakfast with Natasha Roebig available here: https://www.qrrrwn.org.au/conference/ #QRRRWN #ConnectDevelopInspire Queensland Agriculture - Queensland Women - FRRR - FPA - Financial Planning Association of Australia - Simone Wilson MP - James Lister MP - Member for Southern Downs - Coralee O'Rourke MP - Westpac - PandaPearls Australia Pty Ltd - Sunsuper

08.01.2022 Isis P A & I Society are now searching for our 2020, Miss Showgirl, Junior Miss Showgirl, Rural Ambassador and Junior Rural Ambassador. Could it be you? If you have a keen interest in our rural town and promoting its events and youth involvement then we want you! It is not what you are thinking, it is not a beauty pageant. This experience is a journey that will leave a rewarding sentiment, it is also an experience you will learn to build on key qualities such as; Personality,... confidence and leadership; ambitions and goals; general knowledge; contextual agricultural knowledge; agricultural show knowledge, insight and commitment; community participation; presentation and public speaking skills. What is it all about you may ask? Rural ambassador competitions occur around the nation at a local show, sub-chamber, state and national level. Successful entrants are given the opportunity to meet and network with like-minded representatives from around the state, around the country and around the Commonwealth. You will meet state and federal decision makers and leaders in agriculture and education, be able to input your point of view, ask the hard questions and make important contacts. You do not have to be a ‘university graduate’, you just need to have the desire to stand up for rural Australia, have a basic agricultural and rural knowledge, and be prepared to ‘have a go’. You will experience some tough competition, make lifelong friends and have a damn good time. For those wishing to be involved aged under 20 years, the Junior Show Ambassador Program is available for you, this is a non-competitive section that sees you being involved. Rural Ambassador Awards Competitive Section (20 30yrs) The Miss Showgirl is a leadership program for all young women engaged in their communities and the agricultural show movement in Queensland. The aim of the Showgirl Awards is to ‘Recognise, Develop and Celebrate Young Female Leaders in our Communities’. The Showgirl Awards allows agricultural shows to engage young women in their communities to develop their leadership skills and confidence to continue their involvement in, and representation of, their agricultural show. The Competition is open to single women aged between 18-27. For those wishing to be involved aged under 18 years, the Junior Showgirl Program is available for you, this is a non-competitive section that sees you being involved. So if this sounds like you, contact; Isis P A & I Society, Cheyenne Slaats or Maddie Drake for more information and entry details.
