25.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educators Day to all the staff and educators at the Berrigan Children's Centre. Thank you for shaping our littles ones to be the best they can be!

25.01.2022 We are still in very uncertain times and as things are a bit busier at the Centre especially during our vacation care period, I'd like to remind everyone of the social distancing rules we have put in place. These are on the advice given by the Department of Education and are to ensure the health and safety of our families, staff, educators and most importantly our children! 1. Please keep drops offs and pick ups to a maximum of 1 person. 2.Please wait at the front gate until... the foyer is EMPTY, ensuring you are 1.5 metre apart and socialising with other families is kept to a minimum. 3. Please put on a glove to use key pad, open and close the door and to sign you child in/out 4.Please stand behind the tapped line on the floor to ensure the 1.5 metre social distancing rule is being practised 5.An educator will meet you in the foyer for collection/handover of your child and their belongings, they will communicate any information needed. 6. Press the black button and exit the building, disposing of your glove in the bin provided outside the door. I understand this can be difficult at times and we thank you for your patience as we continue to ensure the safety of all our families and continue to provide the care and educational programs throughout this unprecedented time. Please also share this with other family members or emergency contacts that maybe dropping off or collecting children. Thank you. Bianca Mohr Director/Nominated Supervisor

23.01.2022 Lunch time by the campfire! Today the children helped each other create a big ring around the fire pit for safety. Then Maddilyn suggested we sit by the fire and eat our lunch, and what a fabulous idea that was. I think we are due for some marshmallows now.

23.01.2022 Today we have participated in Doughnut craft after reading Arnie the Doughnut, and Mr Potato Man creative play, on this happy Friday!

21.01.2022 The children have enjoyed listening to a very important story this morning, called Anzac Biscuits. Afterwards the children painted their own poppies and walked to the park to enjoy a play before returning back to the Centre. It was an extra special morning as us educators listened to the infectious laughing coming from the children, as they took turns pushing each other on the swing! The simple things in life

19.01.2022 Today we participated in National Simultaneous Storytime. National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an important campaign held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Unfortunately we were not able to join the schools at the library to enjoy our story, instead we joined over 1 million participants virtually and listened to Emma Wiggle read 'Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas'. ... We were provided with an activity creating our own microphones. The children are singing and dancing around the centre like divas. Thank you Berrigan Shire Library for giving us the opportunity to still participate. See more

This new platform has a broader range of features eg; communication books, illness/incident/accidents forms, medication forms, portfolios and much more. 09.01.2022 If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then Autumn would be the magic hour. -Victoria Erickson Autumn is showing us at Berrigan Childrens Centre how beautiful it is to let things go.

08.01.2022 Most Thursdays we take a walk down to our local library. The children thoroughly enjoy what Alarna reads to us and the fun art & craft activity that follows. If we are lucky enough, we make a quick stop at the Apex Park where the children can burn off some of their energy and stretch their legs after sitting and listening for so long. Today was a little different though. The children were having a slow day and were feeling a little tired after a huge week, so we decided to s...kip the library. However, we were all still a little sad about this. After calling the library and cancelling, Alarna called back moments later and asked if it would be okay if she came to the centre instead and read the story here. The children and I unanimously agreed to this and were very excited! The books Alarna shared with us were called: ‘What do they do with all the Poo from the animals at the Zoo’ and ‘Alpacas with Maracas’. The children loved them! After we finished listening to the stories the children got to shake some musical instruments and dance like Alpacas. We are very privileged to live in our small town with kind and generous community members! They too can partner with us, to help care for and educate the children, ensuring that they are feeling safe, secure, and supported. It certainly does ‘take a village to raise children’ ;)

03.01.2022 The children have recently shown an interest in witches, this has prompted turn today in to a Witch day. We started by reading a story book called Winnie the Witch. After we finished reading the story, the children asked to paint rainbow Wilburs, just like Wilbur in the story book. It was a lot of fun discussing all the colours in the rainbow, and linking back to the story of Winnie the Witch.
