25.01.2022 Hi, my name is Thao Le and I operate Morning Star Family Day Care. I have a diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, and over the last two years I have worked in a number of early childhood learning centres in the Gungahlin region as an educator and lead educator. These practical skills and combined with a knowledge I’ve gained from my formal training enable me to deliver a high quality, fun and engaging learning program for children from six months to pre-school age. I... aim to provide children and families with an atmosphere that is warm, welcoming, nurturing and enjoyable. I offer a safe and supportive environment where children are valued and encouraged to develop their full potential. To achieve the principles outlined in the National Early Years Learning Framework, I implement a flexible program where the children have opportunities to practice their skills in key learning areas such as language, literacy, numeracy, art and social skills. I am committed to open and constructive communication with families through discussions, daily diary, child portfolios and learning stories via your preferred electronic medium. I am registered with Creative Kids Family Day Care scheme. I am insured and I have the required First Aid Certificate including Anaphylaxis and Asthma as well as my WWVP clearance. Morning Stars hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm, although some flexibility around these times can be arranged on a case by case basis. The daily fee is $100, which includes nutritious morning tea, afternoon tea and late snacks, as well as nappies and arts and crafts and other learning materials used throughout the day. To enrol your child, or for more information, please inbox me via this Facebook page, or email me at [email protected].

23.01.2022 Children learning through play at Morning Stars Family Day Care

18.01.2022 Look how much fun the kids have with the playdough. Benefits of Play dough play: Children are instinctively motivated to explore the soft and responsive sensory qualities of the playdough. When they squeeze it, poke it, squash it, pick up and pat it down, the play dough responds to each of their actions, and they are learning their actions have consequences. Playing with playdough helps to strenghthen small fingers, hands and wrists. Children gain control over their hand and... arm movements which improves coordination. It helps to build the child's imagination and self esteem - there is no right or wrong way to use play dough. It fosters cooperative play and helps to develop communication skills Early Years Learning Framework: Learning outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity Learning outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learner Learning outcome 5: Children are effective communicators

13.01.2022 Prepare your child for writing: The first thing you do is help your child to develop stronger hand muscles by encouraging him write and draw as much as he can. Cutting with scissors and playing with play dough are also good opportunities to build hand muscles. You can also help your child to have a better grip by giving him a smaller pencil or crayon, as these are much easier to hold. The pencil should be held between the index and thumb while resting on the middle finger. If... your child holds a pencil with three fingers, this is still okay. The main challenge is with lefties since they tend to cover their words with their hand. In this case you should encourage your child to pinch the pen higher above the tip. While kids are learning to write, they might find it hard to hold the paper and pen at the same time. You can have the child write on a slanted surface, as this will require the child to extend their wrist and support the pencil appropriately while writing. How to teach a child to write: Take a plain white paper and follow these steps: Step 1: Write down a word while he is watching you, then explain to the child that this is how he should write the word. Step 2: You can write down the word using spots or faint lines so that the child is able retrace over the word. Let the child trace a couple of times until he gets the hang of the strokes. Step 3: Now, encourage the child to start writing on their own. Step 4: Check the word to make sure all letters have been drawn correctly and correct the child where he goes wrong. Children learn better when they are corrected immediately as it is easier for them to remember. Correct your young ones in a way that they can understand. Step 5: Praise and encourage the child. With constant practice and encouragement, they should be able to write perfectly. (according to New Kids Centre)
