24.01.2022 Christmas spirit

24.01.2022 Wishing you all a very happy Easter from all of us at The Childrens Garden!

22.01.2022 Weve been chatting to ABC News about the new Government payment system for early childhood education centres and the impact it has had on our little community. Tune in to ABC tonight at 7pm to see what weve been talking about!

22.01.2022 You've surely met our Centre Manager, Laura! Having been apart of the team here at The Children's Garden for over two years, Laura has used this time to really get to know our approach and the families that we get to share our time with. Something you might not have known: Laura has been in the field for well over a decade now, having graduated with an Honours in Education in the UK. Since then, Laura has found her passion in working on art projects and developing thought-p...rovoking environments for the children she works with to explore. Working at The Childrens Garden, Laura has the freedom to work with a supportive team, in a beautiful natural environment, and to spend quality time learning and leading with children she has developed strong relationships with. In the time Laura has been with us, she has dedicated herself to applying the methods that enhance children's education in the early years, ensuring that you and your children are greeted by a happy and dedicated team everyday, and working hard to maintain the high standards that she appreciates at The Children's Garden. Want to know more about Laura and her experiences? Just ask her!

20.01.2022 As you all know we recently have got council approval for the extension on the back yard. Our goal is to create a community garden and we would love any families who are interested to bring in a punnet (single) of vegetables or herbs to plant them in our garden beds.

19.01.2022 Never in our 16 year history as The Childrens Garden, have we let the politics in our field or the country at large disrupt our ability to provide the highest level of early years education in a loving, warm and exciting environment. In our 16 years, we have seen changes to the funding allocated to the field, changes to the support offered to families, changes to the obligations and respect for educators and changes to the ability for children to engage with a thoughtful and...Continue reading

19.01.2022 Don't let your preschoolers forget how to play: https://www.janetlansbury.com//dont-let-your-preschoolers/ Yes, its true that Kindergarten has transformed in...to First Grade. Yes, children will need to learn academics, listen and sit still. But that certainly doesnt mean that these lessons should be straight-jacketed onto them in the toddler and preschool years. In fact, the funneling down of structured learning is all the more reason to let children play while they can. We must fiercely protect this precious, ever shrinking window of time for our children... See more

15.01.2022 Past and present families of our little garden community will know that we have always valued committing that extra length to early childhood education. Well, recently we have been updating our team profiles wanted to share a little about ourselves that you might not already know. Our team members have worked hard to achieve their quite outstanding qualifications and we wanted to celebrate these by sharing them with you. Over the next couple of months, we will be sharing the experiences and knowledge each of our team members brings to The Childrens Garden. With the national requirements to work in early childhood diminishing, we wanted to showcase why these remarkable people stand out and their desire to continue to build a career working with the capable little learners we work with!

14.01.2022 Why not start at the beginning! Families past and present will no doubt be familiar with Geri, the founder of The Childrens Garden. The Childrens Garden really is the sum of Geris experience, beliefs and knowledge in early childhood education. Having come to the realisation that children just werent being guided with the respect they deserve as young learners, Geri re-envisioned what early education should look like and the effects it should have on the children who have... the opportunity to be included. Having studied the field in the United States, spent years experiencing what was on offer in centres all over the world and planning the perfect learning environment, Geri made a change. So, based on this belief of using natural, flexible and manipulatable environments, The Childrens Garden began to grow into what it is today. Throw in a team of dedicated educators who share these beliefs and have a willingness to create a sense of community and closeness in which children thrive and you have Geris best model of The Childrens Garden!

14.01.2022 Interesting read for those considering kindy for their boys. These boys are often not ready for big school and struggle all the way through the system. These are the boys who are labeled naughty or lacking in concentration when really they are just not ready for the system that is not ready for them. Follows the needs of your child.

13.01.2022 I get to do this every day.

10.01.2022 "A four-year-old will be a four-year-old only once. Concentrate on meeting his present needs. Don't foist future academics on him. If he's allowed to truly play... now-spontaneous play with room for running, leaping, ka-powing, crying, dancing, painting, spilling and creative problem-solving- then he will be ready for academics later. When children gain social and emotional skills and confidence in the preschool years, academic learning naturally follows." - Heather Shumaker Respect for the Individual (Sunflower pillar) #RememberPlay #SharedWisdom Join The Sunflower Circle: http://qoo.ly/vmemw

09.01.2022 Wishing you all a very happy Easter from all of us at The Children's Garden!

07.01.2022 This is a wonderful read on the importance of allowing babies to develope at their own pace. They will reach milestones in their own sweet time.

07.01.2022 We look forward to having you next door.

05.01.2022 A little insight into how the Early Childhood Education Payment Package has been affecting small centres around the country. Our families have been incredibly supportive during this time as they generously work to help us, our team and the little community we have. For that we say thank you! An update is expected soon, and we will work to keep all of our families informed about any changes that may affect them!

04.01.2022 Missing blanket! Thank you Caroline :)

03.01.2022 To break in the Babies Room introductions, our Room Coordinator - Tiani Patching! Tiani has been apart of the team at The Childrens Garden for the best part of a decade now (hard to believe!) and has really established herself as a part of the family. In that eight years practising at The Childrens Garden, Tiani has accepted the challenge of ensuring that the first experiences for our babies and their families is a happy and exciting one. Tiani has loved her time in the B...abies Room so much that she decided to have a young girl of her own to include! Having completed her Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Tiani then went on to continue her studies and received a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care here in Perth. Following her time at University, Tiani has dedicated herself to her practise, working through some of her favourite projects such as explorative play and fine-motor play. Tiani has grown to feel as though The Childrens Garden is a home away from home. Everyday for her is filled with smiles, exciting adventures, and spontaneous challenges.

02.01.2022 Let's try this again now that it's not considered spam! Exciting news! Many of our lovely families have now noticed that something has been going on next door and we have a little information to share on the matter. ... Our own Óran O'Connor has been silently working on his project for the last 18 months to build a purpose built early years education centre operating as Scola Early Learning! Óran has been working with us at The Children's Garden managing finances and business relations, and working increasingly to help with the educational programme since completing his studies. Óran has developed Scola with an appreciation for the same sociocultural theories that put The Children's Garden at the forefront of early years education, creating a curriculum that inspires children between two and five years of age. What does this mean for The Children's Garden? For those enrolled it's all good news! Scola Early Learning will work cooperatively with The Children's Garden to ensure that there is an increased availability of diverse resources and opportunities available to all families. You can be confident that your child will work with the same educators, be committed to The Children's Garden's specialist programme and expect the same cognitive, social and emotional achievements that you've become accustomed to. The exciting part is Scola is committed to offering families on our waiting list priority access to their programme! This means that any families on our waiting list with children turning two in the months surrounding July 2019 can enrol and acquire a spot on the Scola waiting list with the expectation of opening in Q3 this year! Óran has worked extremely hard with The Children's Garden while developing Scola Early Learning, and we're excited to continue collaborating with him and Scola in the future!
