13.01.2022 March has arrived and the Chinatown Revitalisation Project is moving quicker than ever! Here are the works you can expect to see happening in Chinatown this week: Napier Terrace East - Re-opening of the Roebuck Bay Bottleshop driveways (woo-hoo!) - Pouring the first section of the concrete retaining wall, a big step for the project which will see the entire space really start to come together!... - Continuing installation of electrical and communications pits. Napier Terrace West - Demolition works will start, with the stripping of topsoil and removal of concrete. - Installation of new drainage infrastructure to minimise the potential of future flooding . Carnarvon Street North - Installation of the reticulation, footings for the shade structures, electrical and communications pits. Short Street East - Road construction continuing, with a sub-base layer and the gravel base layer appearing this week. Short Street West - The new slip lane into Paspaley Plaza will open following the installation of kerbing. - Installation of footpath areas as well as electrical and communications pits. Chinatown is buzzing with activity at the moment, with construction happening on nearly every street. The Shire, Georgiou, and all our local contractors are working diligently to get these works finished as quickly as possible and appreciate your support. #chinatownbroome #constructionupdate

12.01.2022 It looks like we will be dodging wet weather this week thanks to the downpour yesterday and potential storms on the horizon. The construction team are working very hard to clean up and get things moving to close out another successful month of the Chinatown Project. Keep an eye out for the following works in Chinatown this week:... Carnarvon North - Bitumen seal application will be completed as soon as site dries out and the weather looks favourable (sorry about the smell, but this is a big step for the project and we’re very excited to get this done ) Short Street West - Application of bitumen seal on the western end of the street. This is an exciting milestone that brings us closer to re-opening the new slip lane into the Paspaley Plaza carpark! - Further construction of the retaining walls in front of Bushies Pizza Napier Terrace East - Further works for the terrace retaining walls, which were impacted by the rain - Construction of the new driveways for the Roebuck Bay Bottleshop - Installation of electrical pits and light pole footings Short Street East - Currently a bit of a swimming pool after yesterdays soak, but we’ll get back moving with road reconstruction once the water is gone and it’s dried out a bit. Registered with Town Team Movement, the goal of the Chinatown Broome Collective is to ensure Chinatown is a vibrant, dynamic and active centre for Broome for people to socialise and do business. Since establishment in 2019, the Chinatown Broome Collective (formerly Town Team) have participated in many Chinatown events and initiatives bringing hundreds of community members to the precinct.
