23.01.2022 Self isolation, what does it really mean? What to do when you have to self isolate? From 12.01am Saturday (21 March 2020, just a couple hours away), people arriving in Tasmania, with limited exceptions, will have to mandatorily self isolate for 14 days. A friend of mine is a nurse working in a UK hospital. This is how she isolates herself at home to protect her family members. She lives at home with her husband and two lovely daughters sharing a bathroom and a kitchen. ... "To isolate myself while living with the family, I have a small room to myself. Everyday I open the window of my room for a while to bring in fresh air. We open the house windows and door daily for a period of time for ventilation. Family members prepare food for me and leave the meal at my room door. After I finished the food, I call their cell phone telling them to stay away from the kitchen but leave the dish washer door open. I take the plates and cutlery to the kitchen and put them in the dish washer. After I returned to my room, I call them to close the dish washer door. I have a pair of slippers outside the room. I wear them when I leave my room, so the bottom of the slippers stay clean. When I come out of my room, I wear a face mask. Share toilet, but everything I have touched in the toilet, I wipe it with bleach in gloves. I wipe all room door handles I touched. Try not to touch anything outside my room. Whatever I touched, I wipe it clean. After shower, I take my towel to my room to dry. My clothes are washed separately and I put my clothes directly into the washing machine, the door of which has been opened for me. Then I will ask my family to close the washing machine door and start the washing for me. We meet and chat in the garden keeping a 2 meter distance. When I am in my room, I chat with them by video using WhatsApp. This is how I can work in the hospital while keeping my family safe. At the hospital, we treat asymptomatic patients without any protective gear. " This is a good reference for those who have to self isolate or those living with family members in self isolation. Please note my nurse friend still has to go to work on a daily basis. For those in mandatory self isolation, you are not allowed to leave your house at all. You see, even in self isolation, you can still enjoy your time with the family in the house. I hope this helps. Stay safe and be vigilant.

21.01.2022 A recent research study examined the efficacy of homemade face masks as compared to that of commercial face masks. This is the conclusion in the Abstract: //Both masks significantly reduced the number of microorganisms expelled by volunteers, although the surgical mask was 3 times more effective in blocking transmission than the homemade mask. Our findings suggest that a homemade mask should only be considered as a last resort to prevent droplet transmission from infected i...ndividuals, but it would be better than no protection.// Better safe than sorry and better wear a face mask (homemade or commercial one) than no protection. You can add a layer of filter to the homemade cloth mask too for extra protection. Please check our other post (https://www.facebook.com/chinesetherapyt/publishing_tools/) to learn how to DIY a face mask. Research Paper: https://www.researchgate.net//258525804_Testing_the_Effica

20.01.2022 Hello, There have been a number of phone calls today asking me if the clinic is still open. The answer is YES. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (must be provided by a registered acupuncturist and TCM practitioner) are part of the allied health system in Australia. Currently there is no government decision to close these modalities from practice, and according to Australian Traditional Medicine Society: "government has encouraged practice to continue to support the health of y...our clients and to reduce the demand on hospitals". I would like to assure you that the clinic is operating as usual with appropriate hygienic procedures applied before and after each patients visit to avoid possible contamination of COVID -19. I will be wearing a face mask during the entire treatment for extra protection to both you and myself. It is my top priority to provide every patient a clean, safe and comfortable enviroment during their visit. However, if you have flu like symptoms, please cancel your booking and contact Tasmanian Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738. Take care, stay safe and stay well!

18.01.2022 Alcohol-based hand gel when burnt gives out no flame but can still lit a fire! It is important that after rubbing the sanitiser on your hands, stay away from fires or sparks such as cigarette lighters, matches, barbeque and gas stoves. Utmost important in fighting this virus is to always keep your hands clean. Dont stop sanitising or washing your hands. Again, take care and be safe!

10.01.2022 http://What is a safe distance when running, biking and walking during COVID-19 times? It is further than the typical 12 meter! The typical social distancing rule which many countries apply between 12 meters seems effective when you are standing still inside or even outside with low wind. But when you go for a walk, run or bike ride you better be more careful. When someone during a run breathes, sneezes or coughs, those particles stay behind in the air. The person running behind you in the so-called slip-stream goes through this cloud of droplets.// https://medium.com//belgian-dutch-study-why-in-times-of-co

10.01.2022 Statistics show old people are the most vulnaerable group in this pandemic. How should we look after our old parents and grannies? This short video gives some useful information. 02.01.2022 Should you wear a mask in public places? Is it necessary? My opinion is DEFINITELY YES. Covid-19 can spread person-to-person within 6 feet through respiratory droplets. It can also be transferred by touch and enter the body through nose, mouth and eyes. It is thus very important to wash your hands frequently and to protect your face by wearing a face mask and even a pair of glasses (or goggles). If you are like me and cant get hold of quality face masks in the market, the Au...stralian Department of Health has shared a video on "How to Make Your Own Face Mask". This is how you can DIY to protect yourself. So, no excuse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNjpH5lBZ8w
