25.01.2022 Scans and X-rays are useful, but we must look at the body as a 3 dimensional, moving structure and not just rely on the scans based on the fact that many pain free people have findings on scans , ultrasounds and X-rays.

23.01.2022 I would just like to let all our wonderful patients know that it will be my last day at Chirn Park Health Group on Friday 27th April. I have had the pleasure of working with Deb and the team at CPHG for 4 years and I know I will never be able to replicate the bond that we share as work colleagues. Hopefully I will be able to say Goodbye to some of you in person, but for those that I dont I would like to say a big Thankyou for making my work environment such a wonderful place to be in. Its the relationships we have with our patients that make it all worth while. Thank you again for all your support over the years and letting me into your lives. From Bianca

21.01.2022 Have you noticed having more aches and pains over the colder period we have experienced recently?

21.01.2022 Did you know that the World Health Organisation estimates that headaches affect about 50% of people globally each year? Head and neck pain is one of the most common reasons for which people come to see an Osteopath. Headache can be debilitating and can impair your quality of life. It can lead to substantial personal suffering and expense. There are many reasons for headache, some caused by underlying health conditions or medications. Primary headache disorders include migrain...e, tension type and cluster headache. In addition, cervicogenic headache is recognised, where pain is referred from bony or soft tissue structures in the neck. Each of these headaches has certain characteristics which facilitate diagnosis and management. Your Osteopath is trained to recognise these characteristics as well as how to manage them or when to refer you to other appropriate practitioners. Cervicogenic headaches are commonly successfully managed by Osteopaths. Your Osteopath will conduct a thorough assessment in order to diagnose the type of headache, which will include a postural assessment, motion testing of the neck, back and shoulder, special orthopaedic tests and neurological testing as required. Osteopathic manual therapy can be an important management strategy and may include a wide variety of technique modalities, depending on your individual needs. These techniques range from gentle tissue based approaches to joint manipulations, again depending upon your individual needs. Your Osteopath will also often prescribe exercises, postural awareness instructions and stress or lifestyle management advice. In short, there is help available at Chirn Park Health Group! If you or someone you know suffers with headaches, it is important they receive good care in a timely manner.

14.01.2022 This is a great visual explanation of the audible sound experienced when a joint is "cracked". There are not joints that go "out" and need to be put back "in". It is simply the gas bubbles in the synovial fluid which is within the joint capsule. https://www.facebook.com/ScienceNaturePage/videos/1201973006601622/

02.01.2022 Professor Lorimer Moseley gives an entertaining talk on why things hurt. Key Points: ->Pain is a construct of the brain (watch and see why) -> Pain is NOT just about the tissue where you ... experience pain in the body. -> Discs dont "slip". ->In persistent pa: you get less stimulus causing more pain. ->Thus pain becomes less helpful in telling us the severity of the pain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwd-wLdIHjs&sns=em

02.01.2022 Exercise is a vital component of managing pain, however little that you may be able to do. The Osteopaths at Chirn Park Health Group incorporate exercise management into our treatment plan whether its regression or progression of what you are currently doing. Talk to us today.
