23.01.2022 Member Update COVID-19 Update Today, Friday, 12 February, the Victorian State Premier, Daniel Andrews announced a ‘circuit breaker’ action plan, in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, state-wide, coming into effect 11:59pm tonight, Friday, 12 February until 11:59pm Wednesday, 17 February 2021 (inclusive).... Advice relating to chiropractors can be referenced below: Essential workers: Any person who performs work that is essential for the continued operation of: j. the following allied health services: (i) allied health services provided by allied health professionals working as essential workers in hospitals or in residential care facilities providing critical clinical care or as directed by the hospital; or (ii) allied health services provided by allied health professionals working in private practice providing essential care in through telehealth and other virtual care options; (iii) students, medical/nursing/midwifery/allied health on placement providing essential care in hospitals or in residential care facilities, or through telehealth. 21.01.2022 Call for Abstracts Deadline: Friday, 9 April 2021 Chiropractic Australia Research Foundation calls for scientific abstracts to be submitted for presentation at the National Researchers’ Day, which is a part of the Chiropractic Australia National Conference, Chiropractic Connected to be held 5 - 6 June 2021 at the Sydney Masonic Centre Sydney (SMC Function and Conference Centre).... Note: To be eligible for acceptance there must be one chiropractic or osteopathic practitioner or student on the authorship list, and one of the authors must be registered to attend the Researchers’ Day and/or the National Conference. Abstracts, not exceeding 300 words, should be typed, in 12 point font, referenced as appropriate, be in electronic format and should generally (but not exclusively) follow these headings: Title and authors: At the top of the abstract, state the title, names of the author(s), author(s) affiliations and the email address of the corresponding author Introduction Objectives Methods Results Discussion/Conclusion. The Discussion (and any accepted podium presentations) must include some words on potential clinical implications of the research in the future Indicate if you are submitting for a podium presentation or for a poster Closing date for submissions: 5.00pm on Friday 9 April 2021 Submit abstracts to: [email protected] All submissions will be confirmed with the corresponding author on receipt. Proposed research methodologies and case reports will be considered. In these instances alternate formats for abstracts apply (use the instructions for submissions for these study types in the journal Chiropractic & Manual Therapies). All abstracts will undergo peer review prior to selection. Up to eight submitted abstracts will be selected for podium presentation. Each podium presenter will have 12 minutes to present their work, followed by three minute individual question time. Abstracts that are not selected for podium presentation may be invited to submit a poster to present the research. Abstracts selected for either podium or poster, will be presented during the afternoon on Friday, 4 June 2021. Prizes will be awarded in both podium and poster categories as follows: Podium awards $2,500 for 1st Place Podium Presentation $1,000 for 2nd Place Podium Presentation $500 for 3rd Place Podium Presentation Poster awards $1,000 for Best Poster Presentation $500 for Best Student Poster Presentation (non-higher degree research student) $500 for People’s Choice Poster A prize may not be awarded if the judges decide that entries within that category are not of a sufficient standard. 17.01.2022 What you need to know about closing your practice during VICTORIAN State COVID-19, Stage 4 ‘Circuit Breaker’ Restrictions: An employer doesn't have to pay an employee when either the Federal or a State or Territory Government or Officer makes an enforceable government direction that prevents an employee from working. This could happen, for example, where an enforceable government direction: ... requires an employer to close down a work site or reduce staffing levels, and employees can't work remotely, or prevents a particular employee from working because they're required to self-isolate. In these instances, the employer doesn't have to pay the employee, unless the employee takes paid leave. Whether or not the enforceable government direction prevents an employee from working will depend on the facts in each case.
