20.01.2022 We got another movie recommendation if you are into romanticism if poetry by John Keats is not enough to make you blush all day and wish your partner wrote heartfelt letters too , they made a whole movie about his love for Fanny Brawne which ended with his tragic death at 25. In all honesty we watched the movie for Keats but rewatched it for the brilliant acting done by @abbiecornish slide to see our favourite quote from the movie (which is a line Keats wrote in his letter to Fanny) Just a little note: (Our submission for August round is open! We love the extent of his creative process where he explored the surrealist interests in mask and disguises of one’s identity. 14.01.2022 Metamorphosis of Narcissus by Salvador Dali. You may have come across egg/s in many paintings or photographs in all walks of lives. It acts as a symbolism to represent re-birth or a new life that is unhatched. In some Asian culture, it also garners symbolic meaning to wealth. Dali used its symbolic meaning to allude a tale of a popular Greek mythology Narcissus. A man who succumbed to his despair when he realised he couldn’t embrace himself. At the sight of his plight, God... immortalised him as a narcissus flower which can be seen sprouting from the egg in Dali’s painting. Don’t you love a good symbolism? That being said, September round opens tomorrow! As writers and editors we believe it is so very important to take time for ourselves, and if you are living in the city during pandemic there is almost no escape other than movies (and music! bless Embers in the Snow's album Solstice) to take your mind off a little! 02.01.2022 Zdzisaw Beksiski was a Polish photographer, painter and sculpture. He was well known for going beyond the ordinary and creating imagery of surrealism through his work. Widely known for breaking the boundaries of Pictorialism and Pure photography, Beksiski instead explored his individual artistic expression through the photography medium.
