19.01.2022 Not a bad view from the office this afternoon! It’s so important to take the time to appreciate how beautiful our country is and how lucky we are.

18.01.2022 We have three wethered male alpacas to protect our sheep and lambs from predators and they take their job pretty seriously. Everyone likes to gather and celebrate the birth of the new ‘Axel’ lambs but as shown in this video, Raj and Pepper are keeping a close eye on things to ensure this baby stays safe.

17.01.2022 Not all pastures are created equal! Nutrition is paramount and the Spring flush has boosted this paddock containing a mix of shogun rye grass, tall fescue, forage oats and monti clover. This pasture combination recovers quickly when strip grazed and as you can see our animals are loving it!

16.01.2022 With over 80mm of rain in the last two days and the wettest August since 1965, our Australian White lambs are putting their rock climbing skills to work as they seek higher ground. I will say, the black swans swimming on our oat crop are a beautiful and positive side effect of the water logging!

14.01.2022 A faithful working dog is an invaluable resource on any livestock property. Unfortunately, Spyder missed this memo. Despite the fact his parents are both proven and handy workers, his usefulness is fairly limited. The sheep follow or chase him depending on how they are feeling and he hides in the ute when the cows are around. But he’s fantastic at assisting during fence checks and colour coordinates perfectly with our Speckle Park bull, Max. He’s pretty good company too!

14.01.2022 With the long awaited break of the season just around the corner (fingers crossed), we would like to thank Heritage Seeds for our Summer forage crop which provided us with a high energy feed throughout this long, dry Summer. This year we chose to go with a new Hybrid Millet mixed with Ebony Cow Peas for that extra protein boost. The crop was sown very late, around mid-December, however, under irrigation it got away quickly and performed better than we had hoped. 7 grazings later, this late variety Millet was still performing and has given us one last graze to see us through this tough Autumn feed gap. As you can see, the Australian Whites and Murray Greys have loved the tasty, green forage.

14.01.2022 Your random fact for the day: Cattle spend roughly 1/3 of their day grazing, 1/3 ruminating and 1/3 resting.

10.01.2022 Australian White Sheep are well known for their ease of handling. Considering this 6 month old ram was not hand reared, he is more than happy to have a dental examination. As you can see, Jack Sparrow, our resident pet babysitter, gets very jealous of any attention the rams receive.

10.01.2022 Positive marbling results from a heifer raised and finished entirely on pasture. Traditionally cattle fed long term grain diets have higher marbling so it’s great to see our investment in improved pastures is paying off! Nathan and the team at Bullsbrook Butcher care about the quality of their meat and take the time to understand where it comes from and how it was raised. Know your butcher, know your food. #Repost @bullybutcher with @get_repost Check out this 23 month old... grass fed Black Angus heifer. 09.01.2022 This is José. José is technically a Speckle Park but actually thinks he’s a piglet. He’s easily the most playful and ridiculous out of our calves this year and I’m totally mesmerised by his joyous and cheeky attitude to life.

05.01.2022 After plenty of compost, mycorrhizal fungi and some TLC, this mix of Shogun and Abundant rye grass has given us three good grazings, with the most recent rotation seeing these yearlings gain an average of 1.5kg a day.

03.01.2022 Super happy with how our latest batch of grass fed lamb has turned out. Head to Bullsbrook Butcher for quality cuts and old fashioned service. #Repost @bullybutcher with @get_repost 100% grass fed, Australian White Lamb from @chitteringvalleybeefandlamb . .... . . #australianwhitesheep #grassfed #chitteringvalley #chittering #sheep #lambs #spring See more

03.01.2022 Our first crop of Max calves are on the ground and we couldn’t be happier with how these F1 Speckle Parks have turned out. With their compact build, inquisitive nature and playful antics, they are extremely photogenic and we are looking forward to watching them grow!
