Back in 1989 there wasnt many mortgage Brokers , as we know them today .Back then , broker would charge fee for services ,as normally there was reason why clients wouldnt go to bank direct .In 1990 , R&I (now Bankwest) trialed a 3rd party referral arrangement , where bank paid $350 per deal , as success referral fee to 1 broking firm in Wa . This went to .5% upfront ,no trail , to at its highest .7% & trail of .25% & all majors & non majors followed over t...he years . . From 1 brokering group , was many break away branches , including the likes of Afg , mortgage choice , Smartline , fast , plan , choice , specialist etc etc .In 2007 after GCC broker commissions & trailer reduced . Since 2007 been-further changes to the present commission structure .Main reason its gone from 0% to 60% market share ,is that Brokers dont charge , give better advice , service ,product lender range, choice & many times at lower rate then if same clients went to Bank/lender direct . Its win for lender ,getting deal on a plate without branch infrastructure/cost & only paying for what settles . Win for us brokers , as thats how we make living & if service is good we retain client & get future referrals & business . Thus we receive trailer commissions. Its win for clients , as they receive superior service , products , rates , choices & professional one on one advice now & ongoing ,for no cost . So its win ,win ,win ,something that RC ,Haynes , Comyn & maybe politicians dont know or understand ? Plus in 29 yr history of commissions, as far as I know ,been no/little complaints on our remuneration model from Consumers or anybody . Thus our commercial existing long standing working remuneration model should never been RC concern or recommendation!!! Plus if Consumer dont like us , our service and or advice , they still have choice to go direct , online or elsewhere. Yes Consumer is better off with current model See more

Chances are that interest will continue to capitalise monthly and at the end of 6 months you will have a compounded debt which you will have to make catch up repayments for .
