23.01.2022 Sometimes I shop at an organic health food shop, and sometimes I shop at Woolworths. I can go from running a marathon, to diligently practicing yoga, to doing nothing more than riding my bike to work 4 times a week for exercise. I meal prep like a mad woman, eat a bucket load of fruit, nuts, seeds, ‘superfoods’ and vege then eat McDonald’s egg and bacon McMuffins and Gatorade when I’m hungover. I enjoy vegetarian and vegan dishes and will frequently prepare them for myself, b...ut when I feel like cheese, poultry or red meat I’ll eat those too. I’ve meditated everyday for 6months, then not done it at all for 6months. I try to limit the amount of single use plastic in my life and invest in items to reduce my waste, but at times I buy things packaged in unnecessary plastic. I have a really good budgeting spreadsheet that allows me to keep track of what I’m spending and save to ensure I’m not stressed about money, then some weeks I’ll spend all my spare pay on silk pjs, essential oils, massages and padded bike shorts. Sometimes I’ll be up bright at early to watch the sunrise, other times (more often than not) I sleep in. I go through stages of devouring books, putting one down only to pick up another, then I won’t read anything for 3months. I’ll abstain from sugary foods for weeks at a time, but I’m also able to eat a whole block of chocolate on my own in one sitting. I love working on projects, being proactive and setting myself goals, however sometimes all I can manage is to cook and chill around the house on my days off. I love being social and catching up with friends, but can also be the biggest introvert that ever lived. Sometimes I get on a roll with keeping in contact with people - responding to texts, organising catch ups, checking in with people, other times I won’t reach out to anyone for weeks. What I’m trying to say is.... whilst I am often healthy and conscious in my lifestyle choices, I’m not perfect. AND THATS OKAY [continued in comments...] See more

21.01.2022 My bedside DIY collection makes me happy. I love being able to dive into my growing collection of oils and create blends to aid me emotionally, spiritually and physically. So much so that I have created mini versions of all of the oils that I own so that I am able to carry them with me whenever I go. I use them when I’m feeling sluggish, anxious, unmotivated, overwhelmed, lacking focus, bloated, achy or needing a boost. I use them in the diffuser or on a wet wash washer when ...working in birth suite to create a calm and nurturing environment for mothers-to-be. And I’ve also been known to spritz and roll specific oils on my colleagues that are suited to their emotional/physical needs on that day And that’s just to name a mere few ways in which I use them. It is such a nice thing to be able to do and above all else it makes me really happy. My current bedside collection includes; 1. Lash serum; Lavender, rosemary, cedar wood, sweet almond oil & castor oil. 2. A luscious & uplifting body/face mist; Passion, grapefruit, geranium, patchouli & wild orange w/ water 3. A sleep spray; cedar wood, balance, lavender, lavender peace & vetiver w/ water 4. A Tummy Cramp-bloat-discomfort roller; Digestzen, Copaiba & ice blue w/ fractionated coconut oil 5. A ‘I’m getting sick roller’; tea tree, lemon, onguard & oregano w/ fractionated coconut oil. 19.01.2022 You deserve the best. You deserve to treat yourself with kindness and respect, to make good choices for your health and well-being because you value yourself, not out of distaste for your body, or the desire to achieve perfection. If it feels like punishment, deprivation or discipline, check yourself, are you making ‘healthy’ choices with an unhealthy mindset? #consciousliving #wellbeing #selfworth #selfcare #wordstoliveby #healthyliving #shiftworker #nurselife #midwife @lola

18.01.2022 My nightshift routine has had a bit of a tweak and upgrade this year as I am doing 4nights pretty much every 3weeks I utilise my diffuser w/ oils such as cedarwood, lavendar, lavendar peace, balance, frankincense, peppermint, easy air, peace and ylang ylang to promote a restful sleep. I got a new silk eye mask and silk pajamas that I use when on nights to increase comfort and contribute to making the experience a bit more ‘glam’. I have started trialling exercising when I ...wake up prior to heading to my shift in hope it wakes me up, gets my endorphins pumping, energises me for the shift ahead and improves sleep the following morning. I’ve also stopped having a coffee in the middle of the shift and instead just increase my water intake. Generally I don’t eat big meals, instead I take my snack box filled with cut up veggie sticks, berries, bliss balls, almonds, gut gummies, a Granny Smith apple and then I also take something to share - be it corn chips, cheezels or Pringle’s. Prior to leaving the hospital for home I make a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich and when I get home I have a warm shower (except for this morning, I fell asleep with phone and keys in hand fully dressed ) put in my ear plugs and pop on my eye mask and I’m out like a light. I also tend to try and cut down my water intake in the few hours prior to bed to reduce the incidence of me needing to get up to void during the day what does your nightshift routine look like? #nightshift #consciousliving #shiftworker #nurselife #midwifelife #exercise #wellbeing #healthyliving #silkjournal #slipsilksleepmask #tips #nurselife #selfcare See more

17.01.2022 Whilst @ uni I was quite fit, the fittest I’ve ever been. I ran 3-5times a week, completed 5 half marathons and a full marathon over the course of my degree. Then I moved to Melbourne and I fell out of routine, shift work left me lacking structure, fatigued and unmotivated to move my body. I didn’t put too much pressure on myself to develop a new routine because my new role was quite physically and emotionally demanding and I knew I needed time to adjust. Plus, at a minimum, ...I was riding my bike to work 4days per week. I tend to be quite cyclical with my habits and I knew that with time a new structure for fitness would emerge. Finally it has, in the form of F45 - I thought about it for 8months before signing up to do a trial week but now that I’m at @f45_training_brunswickeast I couldn’t be happier about it. Also having a gorgeous bike like Pepper makes it a lot easier to explore and roll around the city so I plan on doing more of that too. 17.01.2022 I’ve often thought 2days off in row wasn’t enough time to get out there and go camping .... this week proved me wrong #shiftworker #camping #stevensonfalls #summer #australia #outdoors #healthyliving #selfcare #freshair @ Stevenson Falls Camping Area

16.01.2022 Current lounge room situation everyone in our household rides to work, we live in a unit so our bikes reside with us in the corner of the lounge room. One thing I love about city life is the ability to easily get around, to ride to work, to brunch, to get a tram straight into the city, @F45_training_brunswickeast is 500m from my house and there are a plethora of cafes and restaurants at walking distance. I love how close everything is (if you can’t tell I’m really enjoyi...ng Melbourne life atm). I also love capturing little everyday snippets of life (not just the highlights) to look back on in the future. What seems so familiar now will one day be a distant memory and those seemingly mundane things will be nostalgic relics of a chapter in your life. #consciousliving #wellbeing #photography #bike #riding #melbournelife #healthyliving #fitness #capturingmemories See more

14.01.2022 @jamieoliver vegan shepherds pie dropped into today’s meal prep rotation for me there is no more satisfying feeling than stocking up the freezer with meals, it makes me feel more in control of my life and of my healthy. Something I’ve also found incredibly beneficial is planning out and booking all my F45 classes a week in advance - that way indecisiveness won’t get in the way of achieving my health and fitness goals#mealprep #fitness #wellbeing #f45 #foodprep #shiftworker #midwifelife #consciousliving #beprepared #exercise

09.01.2022 FYI whilst we are on the topic sustainable lifestyle choices these bamboo bad boys are currently on sale for $14.99. I take these to work with me everyday as quite often there aren’t enough folks to go around. I frequently get comments on their practicality and cuteness. This little pouch has everything you need for your lunch, whether it be a smoothie, noodles, salad or soup, a camping trip, a picnic, or take away #sustainableliving #consciousliving #bamboo #healthylifestyle #wellness #2019goals #growthmindset #cutleryset #noplastic #reducesingleuseplastic #wastereduction

08.01.2022 And that concludes nightshift for this month I had booked in for an F45 class this afternoon but cancelled it as my body is telling me to just chill under the aircon this afternoon whilst prepping for something I’ve got on tomorrow that’s incredibly exciting but also absolutely terrifying (as all the best things are) wish me luck! Tomorrow evening I’ll be having some bevvies with @l_stubs and the crew for her birthday and be heading off for a night of camping at the Cat...hedral Ranges for @holistic_tara birthday saturday and back to work Sunday here’s to hoping that the sleep debt accrued over the last few nights doesn’t absolutely kick my ass #itwill but here’s to pushing through. 01.01.2022 With things like reducing waste & eating well being prepared is key. If you don’t put some thought into how you plan to achieve your goals you’re setting yourself for failure. If one of your goals for 2019 is to reduce your waste consumption (food, plastic, general) then set aside a little time to come up with a game plan - things will seem so much more manageable when you know how to achieve things what are your 2019 goals? #wastereduction #newyears #2019goals #healthyliving #wellbeing #plan #preparation #consciousliving
