02.01.2022 As the current situation surrounding COVID-19 escalates we would like to inform all of our patient of the upcoming plans for the practice. Obviously as the situ...ation changes our practice will evolve with recommendations, but as of tomorrow, Monday 23 March, the following protocols have been implemented. 1. All patients will be triaged to assess the level of risk of infection via phone. -Please be sure to advise staff of any of the following: -Have you traveled overseas, or to high population areas in Australia within the last 14 days? -Have you had any contact with anyone with symptoms or has been diagnosed with infection COVID-19 and or has been Tested in the last 14 days? -Please advise staff if you have any of the following symptoms. *fever, coughing, sore throat, fatigue, and shortness of breath. 2. All patients are to wait in their car and text your name and date of birth to reception on 0435710035 to notify us of your arrival. Please remain in your car until you receive a call from staff to enter the building. 3. Only patients are to attend consults. If the consult is for a child, please limit supervision to one guardian. For adults Please do not bring children, friends, partners/spouses etc. They will be asked to remain in the car. Where this is not possible please speak to staff for possible solutions. 4. You will be asked to sanitise your hands, and place on a mask if possibility of infection is identified. You will then be escorted directly into a consult room. 5. After your consult, you will be directed to leave immediately out either the front or back door. If payment is required for your appointment you will receive a phone call from our reception to be paid over the phone. 6. If you qualify for the government guidelines for Telehealth (either phone or video conference), please advise our staff and we will try to arrange a convenient time for a doctor to contact you for a consult. If you do qualify, you will not need to attend the practice. The guidelines are as follows: Eligibility criteria - people isolating themselves at home on the advice of a medical practitioner or in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC); - people who meet the testing guidelines for COVID-19; - people aged over 70; - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged over 50; - people with chronic health conditions or who are immunocompromised; and - parents with new babies and people who are pregnant. If you believe you may be infected with COVID-19, or have come into contact with someone diagnosed, please do not attend the practice. CHA and Douglas pathology in Williamtown do not have the facilities to test for COVID-19. For any questions regarding COVID-19 please ring the hotline on 1800 020 080. Please do not call the surgery to obtain general information about the COVID-19. Please keep phone lines free for acute medical issues. The overall aim for the practice is to be able to continue to offer the quality health care the community needs, but it is imperative that we take all necessary precautions. Our main priorities must be to protect our vulnerable patients and to ensure our Doctors and staff can continue to support the local community. Please be patient and understanding at this time. Our staff are being overwhelmed with calls and requests. It is difficult to be able to address all enquiries straight away due to the level of demand and protocols we are advised to follow.
