25.01.2022 Woohoo! Cracked 500k points for the season! (56 marlin). Very proud to be recognised at the NSW game fishing association presentation night. These trophies are a result of a massive team effort from some of the best guys I could ask to fish with. 21.01.2022 NSW CHAMPION BOAT TAG AND RELEASE! This season saw us defining the term ‘burning the candle at both ends’ in order to make the most of every opportunity to fish. Driving from Sydney every Friday night after work for 2-5hrs to stay on the bite. We questioned our sanity at times and lived on adrenaline. I don’t think I can define in words just how much this accolade means to us and how incredibly proud I am of Tom. We have endured enough disparagement over the years to m...ake you want to quit fishing. I have had people call BS on my ability on a boat or Tom and my ability to catch fish 2 up. Whilst it upset me at times it only gave me more motivation to work harder and learn more.. So to those people, thank you for not believing in me. Yes I am not the strongest but I will be dammed if I am not one of the most passionate. To those that have fished with us over the years and taken the time to help us finesse our fishing, there are not enough words to convey how grateful we are to you. To the guys that fished with us this season I cannot thank you enough for making this season one of the most hilariously fun seasons. You guys made catching fish just a bonus! To our families and friends who put up with us missing important events and basically being MIA for 6 months of the year, thank you for being so understanding and supportive of our passion. 14.01.2022 We did it!! So stoked to take out champion boat tag & release in the 80th annual Ulladulla Jess Sams Tournament. We ended up going 15-14-9 in the first tournament we've fished in the new Haines, with 8 fish counting for the tournament and the 9th being hooked just moments after stop fishing on day 1. 10.01.2022 Pending Australian Record!! 125kg on 10kg line! What a day on Saturday chasing striped marlin on light tackle. After two long fights on other fish that wouldn’t have quite made the weight we hooked the one we were after at about 3pm in the afternoon. It was a punishing hour and a half fight but we finally got the leader in hand and took our shot. This is an absolute dream fish for me and a record we’ve been chasing for a while now. Light tackle fishing is the epitome of a team sport and I couldn’t have asked for a better team than Darren Buttigieg and Tom Laurence. This fish is as much theirs as it is mine

Fishing was tough and the weather was sporting to say the least but we managed to take out first place in the Jervis Bay Game Fishing Club top 10 billfish shootout with a cool 10k prize A big congrats to all the other winners especially our good mate George Lirantzis (and fellow Ulladulla Gfc member) and his crew on Side effect who placed second. 05.01.2022 In light of what is happening in our community and the entire South Coast, The Ulladulla Game Fishing Club has decided to run The Jess Sams Game Fishing Bush Fi...re Appeal Fundraiser in place of our usual tournament, all proceeds from the tournament will be donated to community organisations such as the RFS The Bush Fire Appeal will be held the 1st & 2nd of Feb We will get all details together in the following week and get all the specifics to you!!! We hope that all that are able to come to support what will be a great weekends fishing to help raise some funds for community groups that have put there lives on hold to support us with the bush fires!!!

A huge thanks to Luke and Sandy for joining us for the trip - this was a massive team effort. Also a big thanks to our good mate George Lirantzis and his crew on Side Effect who stayed out and sat 100m from us the entire fight to ensure we were safe. You boys are the definition of mates and sportsmanship. Last but definitely not least, to the skipper Tom! There aren’t enough words to convey how proud I am of you and how hard you work as a skipper you deserve this dream fish and more!
