25.01.2022 Toilet paper really is a currency. I spoke to a lovely lady on the phone last week and helped her with a few pointers on ACAT assessments. She wondered what she could get me to say thanks. Last week cumquats, this week loo paper. Living my best life.

24.01.2022 PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE OLDER FAMILY MEMBERS LIVING IN THEIR HOMES As its been a while, lets revisit what Choice Home Help is all about. From personal experience in dealing with parents and close family/friends that are living at home, they will often have some challenges this is why Choice Home Help was born.... You see, the government pays you good dollars to continue to stay at home for as long as possible - reducing the need to enter into residential care. The government will pay up to $140 per day to put towards services and products. Let me break this down you can use this money to do as you please, well within reason! You can have someone come and clean your house. Dont think you are being lazy and continue to try and be fiercely independent. NOW IS NOT THE TIME. Vacuuming is hard work and remaking that bed and getting the fitted sheet on is well, hard, and dont get me started on changing that pesky doona cover! Or what about getting out and about. Would you like someone to take you on your errands, over to the doctors surgery with that busy carpark or get your lotto and birthday cards for the grandkids? Or maybe just have coffee and cake and people watch at the local shops? Yep, all included in your package. How about home maintenance to put rails in the bathroom or at the back step or gardening that includes mowing and weeding the yard? Things can always go pear-shaped. You could have a tumble and break something or need to go into hospital for a short time. Sometimes you might need a hand afterwards and this is what your package will pay for - almost like a little insurance in the background. So what does the Package pay for well what doesnt it pay for? It doesnt pay for holidays, medications, food or home modifications that are not related to health and safety. However it does contribute towards hearing aids, new choppers, gaps with physio/chiro/podiatry, mobility aids like chairs and walkers and sticks, products for the home like tilt chairs, electronic beds, alarms and personal monitoring and dont forget cleaning and gardening. I am here to help you SELF MANAGE your own package. This means that you or your family can keep the management/admin fees to a minimum [13%] and source and manage your own services, leaving more money in the bucket. This means less money is flowing out as unnecessary fees and charges. I can explain the process, set you up for an ACAT assessment, get you on the national queue for a HOME CARE PACKAGE and offer you wonderful staff and contractors should you need them. 18.01.2022 Our next project will be looking at small regional areas outside Perth that often have a high number of seniors in the community, to make sure they are getting what they are entitled to. A number of these clients have recently contacted us and asked if our services expanded outside of Perth. Not yet.... I did some homework on the fees of some of these providers that work in the regions.......and the fees involved are more than double what we charge. What is sad is that these clients have nothing to compare with, and often aren't aware of other options - such as Self Managing their own Home Care Packages and keeping more in the 'bucket' to use as they wish. So there might be a few day trips coming up to see if all is right in the 'bush'.

18.01.2022 6 weeks ago we lost someone special. We had the pleasure of looking after Tom (and Helen) over the past two years. Tom was wickedly funny, loved by everyone and a true gentleman. We will miss him dearly and our love is with his family. Tom will now travel with us each day as his name is now on our vehicle!

18.01.2022 TRANSITIONAL CARE This week has been super busy here at Choice Home Help. One of our clients needed transitional care at their home for a few weeks following a serious fall.... We managed to pull together additional care services, equipment and allied health in three days. A huge thank you to my staff and welcome to my new in-home allied health providers. We are providing 12 hour 'buddy' care each day with assistance in showering, dressing and medications. Our domestic services take care of the household chores. The physiotherapist is visiting every second day to improve mobility and teaching the carers the ongoing exercise programme. We had a wheelchair, a walker and a shower chair delivered. We have also ordered a range of fresh meals to save time in the kitchen. The OT is coming for a review later this week to recommend changes to the shower recess, remove a step, shiny tiles and the old shower head. All of these things are included in a Home Chair Package. If this client didn't have one, they would be admitted to a Nursing Home for 6 weeks as this transitional care costs thousands of dollars. If this is not a good wake up call to get your special seniors in the queue for a Home Care Package then I don't know what is. One slip at home and this could be them.

We recently had a home visit done for a client and not only did they attend with short notice but their fees were reasonable and staff lovely. In just over two weeks we have had two home visits, some simple jobs and measures put in place to increase safety and a bathroom modification started. ... Thank you for your help guys.

Do you have anyone that is living at home, may have a few aches and pains and could do with a hand? Please take the time to talk to me about the possibility of getting them a Home Care Package. This will get them a daily fee from the government [starts at $20 per day] and they can use it to pay for someone to visit for company, visit to clean, meals delivered to your home, outings and many many other things. This can be as high as $50,000 per year. The process is simple, but it can take a year to be allocated.......but wow is it worth it. Get sorted now!
