13.01.2022 'Xocolatl' (sho-koh-latal) Mayan for 'bitter water'. There was no sugar during this time, so this would have been a very bitter drink, probably like drinking cocoa powder and water! To make Xocolatl, dried cacao beans were crushed and mixed with chilli, vanilla and water and poured from one cup to another to get it frothy. This is our take on Xocolatl. @valrhonapacific 64% Manjari dark chocolate, cacao nibs, chilli flakes and a dusting of vanilla powder! Travel to the past through chocolate!
