18.01.2022 ‘Food is not just fuel. Food is about family, food is about community, food is about identity. And we nourish all those things when we eat well. Michael Polla...n We are hosting a FREE Nutrition and Waste Free Eating workshop run by Amelia Berner, a food technologist and educator, on Sat, 22nd of July, 9.30am 12.30pm at Barrett House, Randwick Register for your free tickets at here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/rhubarb-food-co-op-nutritio ============================================== Good nutrition starts with cooking real food. Learn about the benefits of healthy eating, the meaning of real food and importance of cooking. This workshop will provide a good understanding of what sort of nutrition your body needs to feel its best and stay well. The workshop will also cover ways to waste less so that you can also spend less and help the earth while you’re at it. We all end up with leftover portions of veggies and meat that aren’t enough for a meal on their own. But with a few base recipes or techniques up your sleeve you can give new life to that quarter onion, half can of beans, and handful of shredded cheese. Left overs are your friend, so let’s get creative. Participants are encouraged to bring an item of food, be it fruit, vegetable or staple pantry item from their home that would most likely end up in their compost or the bin to create delicious dishes as we quite literally bring the issues of food waste to the table. Workshop outline: - Basics principles for improved nutrition - Food waste avoidance actions, including: - Planning a menu for the week ahead - Nutritional considerations when menu planning and storing food correctly - Make your meal go further, recipe tips and cooking techniques - Learn to cook delicious dishes and apply techniques to enjoy meals made from leftovers or surplus produce
