19.01.2022 Due to the huge demand for our chookies this breeding season (2020) our books are now closed. If anything changes, we will let you know. We are grateful and humbled that we are in this position and sorry to those that may miss out.... Thank you again for your support, Adz and I really appreciate it!

19.01.2022 Lots of eggs for the bator! Pekin duck, Belgian dUccles and Light Sussex We are currently working on a new chook breed - did you spot it? So excited to get my new Offspring Chicks galore

18.01.2022 This is one of my favourite photos I love a dabble (when I have 5 seconds) and love to capture our animals when they are at their most relaxed and happy. This is one of my favourite ewes, she is a beautiful mama and we have had several multiples from her. ... We have only ever named our poddies (Abby and Lulu) but I think she has earned a name! This year shes having a break from lambing and is enjoying being a fat lady keeping Toby company

18.01.2022 People often ask me about our Belgian dUccles, are they good with children? Ours certainly are and seem to prefer the company of little humans. Maybe its all the handling and love they get as chicks. Perfect size for little people, full of personality and with lots of love to give.... This are just a few of our little ladies enjoying their time with their little person

18.01.2022 Pretty Porcelain Oh Margo you are lovely

15.01.2022 Look what we found Chuffed! Looks like our Neighbours ram may have paid a visit So spotty and brown

15.01.2022 All those that know me, know how fussy I am .... I hate grubby chook houses as much as I hate pooey horse paddocks so I wouldnt normally like to post a photo like this! Why have I posted a pic of my chook house mid clean? To show you how terrific these rice hulls are for damp spots, prior to me replacing with fresh hulls.... With the huge volume or rain we have had of late, its interesting to note that even with our concreted pen floors we still have damp spots. The rice hulls effectively pull moisture down and away from the top layer leaving our fancy footed friends dry and cosy. Organic rice hulls Inbox to order 20 kg $25 Gate pickups available Cranbourne South

15.01.2022 So this is where we begin again.... 4 split pens Belgian d’Uccles 1 Light Sussex pen 1 growers pen ... 1 Pekin Duck pen The concrete floors are impossible to penetrate so no issues with snakes or rodents Easy to clean We have set the concrete slightly down from the plinths so the rice hulls don’t spill out. Bring on the chookens !

06.01.2022 Florence is the prettiest lavender Belgian dUccle. We have had several beautiful chicks out of her including 3 that went up to NSW. We already have a waitlist for her 20/21 babies ... Please pm to be added to the list See more

05.01.2022 Yes its been a bit quiet here at Chookala We have a very sad little Sausie at home finally! Its been a super stressful week, a confirmed case of IVDD and spinal surgery Wednesday. ... We are so grateful that he is still with us and under the great care of specialist spinal surgeon Alasdair Renwick. For all of our fellow sausage fan friends, or anyone considering adding a Dachshund to their lives, pet insurance is so so important. Spinal issues are a real thing for this breed, we honestly thought it would never happen to us, yet here we are! We start physio and aqua therapy over the next few weeks and are hopeful of a great recovery. For now we have a snazzy new haircut, he is getting around a bit like a little, sad Ivor on Vikings!

05.01.2022 Welcome to our page Ash! Ash has been working/collaborating/training and supporting us at Chookala for the last year. Ash is joining us as an admin on fb to share her plethora of knowledge on chookens and sheepies with us all

05.01.2022 After the latest covid announcement we would like to assure all our ricehull customers that we will still be open for gate collections. For those of you outside the 5km radius we have a delivery service for a min 4 bag order. Any inquiries or for deliveries please call 0409391773.... Please note we only have a small amount of rice hulls left and it is uncertain when the next lot will be in. Thanks all, keep safe and keep chookening
