24.01.2022 ROAD CLOSURE Riley's Crossing Rd will be closed between 13 and 23 February while critical repairs are carried out on the Mike McArthur bridge (weather permitting). The bridge is located north of Comet on our border with Isaac Regional Council. Motorists are asked to please obey all traffic conditions, plan ahead and seek an alternate route.

23.01.2022 Here's a few highlights from today's council meeting 4 new policies were adopted including grants, community donations, community sponsorship and library collection development. The monthly financial report was received. The quarterly customer service report was given. Council received more than 4500 customer requests and 6400 phone calls between 1 July and 30 September! The bi-monthly safety and wellness report was given.... The Emerald Airport manager and his team were given an award for their work on the successful runway renewal project. The next council meeting is scheduled for 9 December at 9.00am. See more



21.01.2022 The Gemfields Lapidary & Craft Club Inc. have called Roy Day Park home for years, but now it’s official! The club were the first to sign onto a 5-year lease agreement under council’s updated tenure policy, with a total of 15 clubs across CH now signed After feedback from you, the policy was changed to allow tailored agreements to suit individual club's needs. 21.01.2022 In support of #WhiteRibbonDay and the Red Rose Foundation Australia's Red Bench Project, we've unveiled the region's first red bench in the Emerald Council Chamber's forecourt with a number of local support services. 08.01.2022 Don't forget your furry friend this Saturday at the Nogoa November family fun day! There will be FREE cat and dog microchipping for anyone who lives in the Central Highlands, you just need to show proof of residence. Dogs must be on a lead and cats in a pet carrier. Drop by our Ranger Services stall for more info!... **Please also note that there is an outbreak of canine cough at the moment. If your dog displays any symptoms do not bring them to the event and contact your vet for advice.

05.01.2022 A wrap up of this week’s council meeting! Meeting kicked off celebrating 3 recent awards for council for risk management, Emerald Airport runway project and Nogoa River nature trail. Amendment made to the recent approval for 20 extra holding yards at the Emerald Saleyards, with the requirement for a solid screening fence removed and replaced with a 4-barbed wire fence. This is in addition to screening vegetation. 2020/2021 budget was reviewed and amended (this is do...ne quarterly). General Manager Customer and Commercial Services appointed delegate of Central Highlands (Qld) Housing Company. Council discussed and provided feedback to LGAQ on its Bush Councils Compact initiative, calling for more appropriate criteria. CEO gave a detailed report on recent LGAQ conference. 2 more local businesses benefited from council’s Regional Economic Development Incentive fund.
