24.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone!
23.01.2022 I spent the first couple of weeks of January in and around the bushfire zones. I was trying to help out but also trying to comprehend and understand what on earth was happening. I am still trying to process it all but also I’m wondering if we can actually continue to live in this landscape if we do then we need to radically rethink the way we do. Since I’ve been back In Sydney I’ve had more than a little trouble getting back to normal. It’s always difficult in January but th...is is much worse:) Anyway, we are working again on this little container project. It will be a low-cost off-grid tiny home. The idea is that almost everything in it will be recycled. It will have a large roof area to collect water and a sprinkler system to help protect the structure. The whole thing will be able to be taken apart and moved should the conditions in the area deteriorate over time. This is just one of many possible strategies that we are thinking about in relation to climate change and the worsening fire situation in our country. Wherever you are, Happy New Year to you!

07.01.2022 The east coast of Australia appears to be on fire. This is near the site of one of our south coast projects this morning. My feeling is that there ought to be a moratorium on lighting fires , including back burning- at least until we get some rain. Who agrees? . . #bushfirehaze #smoky #eastcoast #australia #stoplightingfires
04.01.2022 Well, strangely beautiful I guess. Our mornings are starting to look more and more like Monet sunsets. We’ve been trying to get get excited about architecture for the new year but it’s difficult to concentrate when you wake up every morning surrounded by smoke. And then you think about people and animals dying in the fires it’s impossible. So anyway, I’ve been trying to decide on a New Years resolution - there are plenty to choose from and I still have a little time. However..., in the meantime I have a few for Australia: 1. Stop lighting fires 2. Leave the fossil fuels in the ground 3. Stop cutting down trees. The trees are our lungs and more trees means more rain so unless it’s dead don’t cut it down. #australiaonfire #bushfirehaze #smoky #eastcoast #australia #onfire #stoplightingfires #climatechangeisreal #climateemergency
