03.01.2022 JUST IN: Last night the Morrison Government announced it will include funding in the 2020-21 budget to maintain Vales Point coal-fired power station. Bushfires and heatwaves are already becoming more deadly. The government needs to have a plan for the orderly closure of coal-fired power stations and their replacement with clean energy. Subsidising an old coal-fired power station is just throwing fuel on the fire. We need to take action for the climate, the environment and the safety of our communities now.
