24.01.2022 We’re pretty excited that Closer Productions are producing a new drama-comedy series titled Aftertaste for ABC TV which is set right here in Uraidla! The sh...ow stars Rachel Griffiths and Erik Thompson along with a number of other Australia actors. There are two upcoming days of filming which you might see. One is a night driving scene on 26 August and another day scene on 31 August. The location manager is also looking for a lovely meadow. Thinking about something with a great aspect or blossoms. It's for a love scene so it needs to be private. But I also need to be able to get several camera vans, generator and a grips truck close enough to it - it's a challenge! If you can think of the perfect romantic spot let us know. Here’s an update on what you can expect locally: On the night of 26 August between 7pm and midnight there is a big driving scene. We want Uraidla to look as bright and well lit as possible so that it looks amazing on camera. We are asking each business along the main street to leave their interior lights on for the evening. If you have exterior lights, we’d love to see them on too! We are asking each business to help here. The oval lights and bowling club lights will also be on. For the first part of the night, our film vehicle will be on the back of a trailer with the road under slowed traffic conditions. For the later part of the evening, the film vehicle will be driving the roads with cameras mounted on car as well as roadside. During this part of the night Greenhill Road and side roads along the main drag leading onto it, will be under hold and release traffic control. It is extremely important that we cause as little inconvenience as possible. On Monday 31 August where we will be very visible and out on various roads. Our day will start at the Uraidla Hotel carpark from 7.30am 12.30pm. Traffic along this stretch of Greenhill Road will be slowed to provide a safe working environment for our crew. We then move to Swamp Road to film at several locations from 1.30pm 6pm. Again, traffic control will be in place either in a slowing capacity or under hold/release. 17.01.2022 Reminder: TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Friday 19 February 2021 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Mid North - Severe Mount Lofty Ranges - Severe Yor...ke Peninsula - Severe Lower South East - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight to midnight. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit www.cfs.sa.gov.au See more

08.01.2022 Hello All, Council has launched our Event Support Program: Recover and Recreate. Following the significant and ongoing challenges of the past 12 months, we have created this program to support the return of postponed events, encourage new events and help Hills organisers to plan and deliver events that celebrate and connect our communities.... Support available includes: Financial support between $500 - $3000 COVID-19 guidance and compliance assistance Equipment loan Waste management Digital and social media promotion and more Detailed information is available on the Event Support Program webpage about available support, eligibility requirements, the application and assessment processes, and requirements placed on successful applicants. In order to allow flexibility as conditions continue to change, there is currently no closing date for applications. Instead the program will close once all available resources have been allocated. Therefore we strongly recommend that groups discuss with Council and put in their applications as soon as possible in their planning. For more information, please contact Anisa Cadd, Events Officer: 08 8408 0441 or [email protected]
