Huge thanks to Andrew for his fab playing :) Please like and share to show you care! About Andrew: https://andrewdoyleclarinets.com/... Andrew has been principal clarinettist of The Metropolitan Orchestra since its inception, and has enjoyed many solo opportunities featuring the clarinet, most memorably Mozart's Clarinet Concerto to a sold out City Recital Hall, Sydney, an ABC Classic fm radio broadcast of Elena Kats-Chernin’s Ornamental Air for basset clarinet and orchestra, as well as performances of Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 1, Mozart's Clarinet Quintet and Rolla's Bassett Horn Concerto. In addition to his position with TMO, Andrew has performed with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, is a casual clarinettist/bass clarinettist with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, principal clarinet with the Sydney Philharmonia and from 2006 - 2017 was the full-time clarinet soloist and section leader with the Royal Australian Navy Band. The highlight of his position with the RAN Band was the CD recording and release of Black Dog Rhapsody for Clarinet. In 2016 he was awarded a prestigious Churchill Fellowship to travel to Europe to learn how to make period clarinets. He subsequently set up a workshop in Sydney, and has begun making historical clarinets and barrels for modern clarinets from the finest Australian timbers. #Clarinet #ClarinetConcerto #Composer #NewMusic #AustralianComposer #ContemporaryClassical #AussieComposer

19.01.2022 The final prize for the Bored Composer Competition is the "Best Videography Prize" which goes to Solomon Alber for the combination of great playing and the cool way he has added the text of the Robert Frost poem the work is based on into the video. Love it! About Solomon: Saxophonist and music producer, Solomon Alber, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. From an early age, he remembers hearing bands with horn sections like The California Honeydrops and Tower Of Power. Solo...mon began to build momentum as a performing artist after a European tour with the California Jazz Conservatory Studio Band in 2015. He continued on to play several mini tours performing in festivals and venues around the United States. While he blends the history of vintage jazz styles with saxophonists of the Soul Jazz era: Stanley Turrentine, King Curtis and Junior Cook, Solomon strives to incorporate rhythms and styles from all over the world and to carry a unique and optimistic message through music. By persevering through all the challenges that come with being a musician in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Solomon hopes to lift people's spirits with his music. He continues to compose, record and collaborate with musicians all over the world and plans to continue releasing original music under his independent music label, Alber Music. Connect with Solomon and his music through Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and his website, www.solomonalber.com

16.01.2022 My statement: "Art has a crucial role in expanding the human ability to create meaning from the human experience. Science informs us what it is, while art shows us what it means to perceive it. These two things, the arts and sciences, ought not be seen as separate endeavours. Without science, we have no future. Without the arts, we have no present worth living only a barren wasteland without the promise of reprieve.... It is easy to undervalue art because it is ever-present. It is like hope: only when it is truly gone do we realise how vital it was to sustaining us." https://www.cutcommonmag.com/job-relevant-we-ask-18-arts-wo

04.01.2022 Congratulation to Brian Schappals Music who has won the Composer's Choice Award for his performance of my work 'Birches'! Brian's playing was sensitive, colourful and really captured my own reading of the poem (Birches by Robert Frost) that the work was based upon. More about Brian:... "Brian Schappals is a clarinetist, composer and educator based in Seattle, WA that diversifies the art of clarinet playing by integrating multiple styles of playing into his performances and compositions. He holds a Master’s in Music degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Washington and Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Clarinet Performance and Music Composition from Whitworth University, having studied with Ben Lulich and Dr. Del Hungerford. In 2019, Brian won University of Washington Wind Ensemble’s concerto competition and performed David Maslanka’s Concerto for Clarinet and Wind Ensemble I. Lamentation. Brian is also an active musician in the greater Seattle area, performing with Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, Emerald Ballet Theater Orchestra, Saratoga Orchestra, Inverted Space, The Sound Ensemble, and Bellingham Chamber Chorale. Most notably, Brian recently performed in the world premiere of Harry Partch's original version of The Bewitched with the Harry Partch Ensemble."
