17.01.2022 Man he could play. Every time Prince busted out a solo it was kind of unbelievable. Like, Really? Can he really play like that?? Looking at his hands to see if he's bluffing. The outro to Let's Go Crazy was my first 'what the what!' moment after learning it wasn't one of his session players ripping that. He did some super heavy rocking shit with 3rd Eye Girl. 10.01.2022 Check this out! One of my besties decided to record an album and like everything Jorge does, he threw everything at it, including a host of great musicians who were all only too happy (honoured in fact) to play a role under whatever direction he requested. Jorge is the kinda guy who says ‘yes!’ to any request for his participation in any musical adventure, so the response was always a resounding ‘Yes!’. Besides, Jorge is an excellent songwriter, so everyone knew they’d have t...he opportunity to play on great music, unlike anything else. The main drums were recorded in a studio and everything else at his home in his creation space, Pereztroika Studios, where he has all his toys and a recording booth, over 2-3 years. I enjoyed quite a few ‘sessions’ at Pereztroika, helping out with various tasks and playing a little here and there. Long day/nights of serious fun! Many others shared that time with him as he piloted this vision. Most of the musicians Jorge has known and played with in various bands with for years and others he met as this journey evolved. So many great performances by people playing amongst music created by others who in many cases they hadn’t met. The community vibe is strong. I’ll leave it to Jorge to fill in the rest: The Golden Ratio was recorded, mixed and mastered between February 2015 and November 2017 in Noisegate Studios (Drums) and Pereztroika Studio (All Music) with other bits and pieces recorded at various locations (See Liner notes). The idea of this project was to bring together a collective of musicians, artists and friends together and realise a number of musical ideas written over a 20 year period. These 11 songs are audio descriptions of the different emotions we collectively experience. Each track was applied in this record like scene within a movie, with the lyrical content driving the overall narrative. A big thanks should go to Mark D’Amico and Brent Rowley for their assistance in the recording process and a big thanks to Chris Parisi for the many late night phone calls, feedback, advice, and mixing input in making this project a reality, Thank you all gentlemen. 02.01.2022 I came home last night after a few drinks thinking about all of the music I've worked on with Luc Laika Hook Walker. So many great tunes. I opened this session from 2008, recorded at my house in Melbourne, reset it and had some fun remixing it. This is a song about the 2000bc epic Gilgamesh, from the perspective of Enkidu, who was made soulless from a lump of clay and tasked with reigning in Gilgamesh's pride..
