25.01.2022 I’ll be at a writers group stall at Palm Beach library on Saturday 15 September with printed copies of my book for sale. Come along for a chat, we will have some creative writing exercises to get you writing if you feel the urge! I did it and ended up with a published book, so you can do it too! See you there between 9 and 1 on Saturday.
24.01.2022 So much of what makes the Gold Coast such a great place to live is its natural beauty. We must make sure we honour it and protect it, as it is irreplaceable.
22.01.2022 YAY! If you've been hanging out to read my book until it got into the GC library system, then hang no more! There's a copy available in Coolangatta and I'm told another is either in Palm Beach or Elanora. Beat the mad rush... reserve your copy now! (If you don't live down that way, then you can order it and get it sent to your own local GC library to pick up.
21.01.2022 Now that I have your attention....Just letting you know that I have finally finished my novel about crime and corruption in a fictional Australian town!!! Its called 'Drowning in a Sea of Duplicity' and is with the publisher at the moment. I think it will be released in late January. I'll keep you posted. And by the way,.....I did actually see this koala earlier today while walking the dog and yesterday I saw a mother koala and her joey nearby, too. Great to know that they are still flourishing in this neighbourhood, so drive carefully in Tallebudgera Valley.
21.01.2022 Don't you wish you had someone like this to vote for? Someone who has the guts to say that coal is the problem, not the solution.
19.01.2022 My novel 'Drowning in a sea of Duplicity' The print version is up on Amazon for delivery sometime after March 15 and priced at $23.10. The electronic version hasn't arrived there yet, but it should be up soon I think! It will also be available on Kobo, Apple and Google Play, if not already then soon, so check there for price as well. (it's up to them how they price it). https://www.amazon.com.au/Drowning-Sea-Duplic//ref=sr_1_1
17.01.2022 An amazing photo of recent local weather. I reckon photographer Sean Scott is a genius.
15.01.2022 Thank goodness! Today all of the Gold Coast City councillors voted to refuse Ridongs application to build a mega development in Tallebudgera Valley. A great result and special thanks to Daphne McDonald Division 13, Gold Coast City division 14 councillor Gail O'Neill and planning committee chair Cameron Caldwell for their unwavering support for the City Plan and our community.
15.01.2022 This is very disappointing. All that Four Corners did was to shine a light on an issue of great concern to our community ie. whether our elected leaders are acting in the interests of donors or in the interests of the public good. Shutting out the national broadcaster hardly assists in this regard and merely makes community members ever more suspicious that the council has something to hide! Working strenuously to regain the community's faith in the integrity of our political system going forward should be the council's mission at this time. This is certainly not a very promising start!
14.01.2022 Here's a photo taken at my official book launch held last week. The novel, Drowning in a Sea of Duplicity, is available at a lot of on line retailers (Amazon, Google Play etc.) in both electronic and printed versions. I also have some printed copies available @ $20 and if you live locally and want to purchase one, I'm happy to drop one in, just PM me. I can also post for an additional $5. If you've already had a chance to read the book and want to comment, feel free to post here. I promise not to delete any reviews (unless of course you breach the no libel and no swearing protocols.) Thanks to Mal Sutherland for the photo.
12.01.2022 Drowning in a Sea of Duplicity by Chris Robbins here is the rest of Chapter 1. I realise that the sentences and paragraphs may be broken up weirdly on different devices due to the width of the screen, but its hard to overcome that problem as these files are PDF and don't flow. It will read marginally better on my web site, but there are formatting problems there too. (That's all the usual w's plus chrisrobbins.id.au) To get the proper flowing text that adjusts to your screen...Continue reading
12.01.2022 This is incredible news! Our very own Tallebudgera Valley resident, Mara Bun, will be leading the ACF in the battle of all battles, to save our planet from our human follies. Go Mara Bun, I suddenly feel slightly better about the odds!
11.01.2022 Who would have thought the title of my own little book, 'Drowning in a Sea of Duplicity', could equally be used as the title for Malcolm Turnbull's soon-to-be-written memoir, lol. Actually, it's the same old story at all levels of government, so no, I suppose it's not surprising at all. You can still get a printed or e book copy of my version of political commentary on amazon.com.au as well as from most other online booksellers, which could be a bit of a hoot if only it wasn't all so sad and disheartening.
10.01.2022 Here is a nice article by Bob Anthony about me and my book in this week's GC Sun. I've checked a few sites such as bookdepository, AngusRobertson, Amazon and Booktopia. and they all have the print version up for sale now, but prices and postage vary, so check around if you want to purchase a paper copy.
10.01.2022 Here are the direct links to the 4 retail on line sites on which you can purchase both the print and eBook versions of my novel, 'DROWNING IN A SEA OF DUPLICITY. You can also preview the first chapter or two there. So, what with all the scandals and CCC enquiries involving local councils, and the concerns about governance and integrity at all levels of government both domestic and foreign, here's a little fictional offering that talks about some of the very same stuff. 09.01.2022 This surprise art installation has mysteriously appeared overnight out here on the edge of civilization. Obviously some local wag is less than amused about the use of disposable plastic reflectors and their ultimate fate at the hands of verge mowers and hoons. Watch out SWELL Sculpture Festival looks like a bit of competition in the public art space out here in Tallebudgera Valley.
08.01.2022 This site is a great one to 'set the record straight' after the master of tweets and mistruths has his say.
06.01.2022 Here's a bit of news about a worthwhile battle we need to fight to help protect koalas in our community.
06.01.2022 Great result for the people of Tallebudgera Valley and the whole of the Gold Coas at
05.01.2022 DROWNING IN A SEA OF DUPLICITY My novel, Drowning in a Sea of Duplicity, will soon (as early as next Wednesday) be available on Amazon, Kobo, Apple and Google Play in electronic format and a bit after that on the same sites in a print version. In the meantime, and to wet your appetite, I have posted the first chapter on my web site which you can reach by typing in the usual w's and then chrisrobbins.id.au. Unfortunately I'm having some trouble with the site and the layout an...Continue reading
03.01.2022 I agree with the comments of Peter Young Division 5. Council officers should not, in my view, be providing assistance of the sort described in the ABC.net.au post .
