25.01.2022 Another one of our happy guests, leaving us a lovely review. It's the perfect, peaceful, little get away place. And much credit and thanks to our house manager; Deb Chabau. The Charlotte St Beach House, is always shining.

24.01.2022 AUTUMN TRAVEL INSPO ARTY ADVENTURES Keen to get away? Looking for that next epic road trip destination? Love exploring regional Oz, discov...ering silo/mural art and quirky art collections? Well folks, there’s no place quite like Deni Whilst the heat of summer is nearing an end and those glorious Autumn days are just a matter of weeks away - it’s time to plan that next road trip before Winter is suddenly here! Here’s just 3 (of many!) arty, cool and quirky things to check out this Autumn: The Depot Historic Collection: Car lovers rejoice! Our latest attraction, opening this weekend, is sure to be a show stopper. Okay so technically not art... but we can’t help but think some of these Aussie vintage vehicles are works of art! The newly revamped 3000 square metre complex is just bursting with vintage goodness with a range of classic vehicles and memorabilia on display. A sure hit with all ages Water Tower Art: Rightio folks. If you like silo art, you’ll love our water tower mural. This beauty hasn’t even been around for a year, and yet it’s drawn thousands of visitors already With wrap around murals and over 22 metres in height, every angle is impressive! What’s more, it’s right next door to our infamous Rocket Park (a destination playground in its own right!). Reutilise sculpture: this relatively new piece of public art was created by award-winning local artist Stuart Taylor. Engaged to create a life-size Holden Ute from metal objects collected from farms in the local area, he has done a heck of a job! The sculpture is part of The Long Paddock iconic ARTback outdoor sculpture series which spans Moama to Wilcannia. Located next to the Peppin Heritage Centre in Deni’s CBD, you can’t miss this bea-ute-iful piece of art! Okay. To be fair. Since we added the new Depot to our list, and it’s not technically art here’s a bonus #4... Peppin Heritage Centre Deniliquin: The Peppin Heritage Centre was Deniliquin’s first public school. Today this beautiful old building wears many hats from cafe to visitor centre, historical museum to gallery exhibition space. Regular exhibitions feature art work, fashion and photography by local artists and travelling exhibitions such as the Bald Archy Prize. The museum side takes you into the world of the Deniliquin founding families and the famous Peppin Merino. It also has an original ram shed, the Wanganella Goal and a recreated old-school classroom. In summary - loads to check out! Keen to find out more? For things to do, places to stay and even sample itineraries, check out www.visitdeni.com.au

19.01.2022 EYE SPY BIRD SPOTTING MADE EASIER Love getting out in nature and playing eye spy with the local wildlife? Well, get set for the best game of... eye spy you’ll have yet! More than a third of Australia's bird species have been spotted in the Deni region. Actually, it’s possible to observe over 80 bird species in just one day within the town! Did you know there are even bird spotting apps you can download for free? Two favourites are eBird and also BirdsEye, which you can link together. They will help you not only identify birds, share sightings, keep a record of birds you’ve seen but it will also show you hot spots nearby or you can search by location. One location at Deniliquin, which was updated only 4 days ago on BirdsEye, has recorded sightings of 125 unique species within the last four weeks! Pretty cool right?! These apps are a great ‘in field’ guide to help you spot the many birds that call our region home. They sure make playing eye spy with the kids or even your mates, far more interesting. If you’re keen to go along with an actual guide though, be sure to call or drop into the Visitor Centre and they’ll be able to help you organise a guide Keen to get out and try spot some of our beautiful birds for yourself? Here’s 3 favourite spots to explore: Island Sanctuary: located in the heart of Deniliquin, here you can find over 100 species. It’s also a water bird nesting area for ducks, herons, moorhens and egrets! Wanganella Swamps: located 40km to the North of Deniliquin along the Cobb Hwy, here you’ll find an extensive wetland area home to ibis rookey and broglas in a good season. Murray Valley Regional Park: enter the park via Memorial Drive in Deniliquin and either drive, ride or walk along the many forest trails to spot species such as red-capped robins, jacky winters, treecreepers, thornbills and pardalotes to name just a few! We ...like to think of the Beach to Beach walk as bucket list worthy. Actually, we’re even told it is! It’s an all time fav of locals and visitors, and for very good reason Kicking off from McLeans Beach you’ll walk past towering red gums, sandy beaches, the McLean Beach Holiday Park located a stones throw from the boardwalk, historical buildings and places of interest like the Deniliquin & District Historical Society and the iconic Ute on a Pole. As you make your way from McLean’s to the Island Sanctuary on the other side of the CBD and then onto Willoughby’s Beach, you’ll also pass by the The Crossing Cafe Deniliquin and the nearby Napier Street retail and cafe precinct. Tip: make time to enjoy a coffee, brunch or lunch in town as you meander along the rivers edge This one’s a great trail to explore with the family too. It can be done in sections or as a longer return loop, and the path is easy to navigate with prams or even bikes THE LOW DOWN: Nature: Birdlife: Water views: Family friendly: Exercise stations: Photo opportunities: Rest stops & seating: Coffee & refreshments: That’s a lot of ticks right!? 08.01.2022 There's a chair in there. New recent additions to our beachy shack: A gorgeous, new "old" bankers chair for the little "Work Station". A wee map of the world on the wall and two beautiful peaches, our first crop on the Pixie Peach tree. "Going to the country, gonna eat a couple of peaches."

06.01.2022 A MISSING TREASURE AND A HISTORIC TOWER Walk or cycle through the Island Sanctuary in the heart of Deniliquin and you’ll come to the historic brick wate...r tower in Memorial Park. The foundation stone for the water tower was laid on October 3, 1882 and a time capsule including money was placed beneath it. But, it didn’t remain there long! Three weeks later the Pastoral Times described a novel robbery at the waterworks. The bottle containing the scroll, newspapers and current coins of the realm had been removed from under the foundation stone! Thieves had dug up the bottle and stolen the contents before cementing the space back in. There’s no saying as to whether the items were ever recovered or replaced. It’s a mystery to this day Located on a knoll amongst old river gums, with a shared path winding its way along the rivers edge, it’s safe to say that treasure or no treasure the water tower is still a beautiful place of interest to discover along the river walk. Ps. Pack your camera if you go exploring the river and sanctuary trail. There’s an abundance of wildlife & some truly beautiful river views!
